Born in a garage, but raised on the road, Jane’s Party is a musical band from the Greater Toronto Area. With catchy hooks, bouncy beats, and sweet vocal harmonies, Jane's Party combines the spirit of the old with new-age "pop & roll", drawing comparisons to bands such as The Skydiggers, Joel Plaskett and Wilco.
In 2009, Jane’s Party established themselves as the "Folk-pop darlings of Toronto" with back-to-back performances at the Now Magazine Lounge in co-ordination with the NXNE Festival. With dates such as The Halifax Pop Explosion, Toronto Indie Music Week, The International Pop Overthrow Festival, and feature performances at The Horseshoe and Hugh’s Room, the band has played over 100 shows alone in the past year in support of their full length album The Garage Sessions. The album was inspired by two independent tours of Northwest Ontario and Eastern Canada, winning over the hearts of anyone within earshot. The Garage Sessions captures the groups ability to compose feel good songs,"which are clean, direct and glowing with warmth" (John Sakamoto, The Toronto Star). Recently Jane’s Party has found themselves sharing bills with acts such as Steve Poltz, You Say Party We Say Die, By Divine Right, Zeus and more…
Wait For You
Jane's Party Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
What you see in me 'Cause baby I′m
So afraid it's something I'll never be
It′s been long, far too long for me
Feels like I′m now, than I will ever be
If you were made to follow
What ever made you stay
And I'll wait for you
I′ll wait for you
And I'll wait for you
If you wait for me
Wasted years and empty promises
Yeah I thought it could change, but that′s how it always is
Something wrong's just so hard to see.
All of your wildest dreams unravel in front of me.
If I should fall to pieces
You′ll build me up again
And for a while we'll forget everything
And I'll wait for you
I′ll wait for you
And I′ll wait for you
If you wait for me
If you were made to follow
What ever made you stay
You feel it all, begin to slip away
And I'll wait for you
I′ll wait for you
And I'll wait for you
If you wait for me
In the beginning of the song, the singer is expressing their self-doubt and uncertainty about their relationship with a significant other. They are questioning why their partner is with them and expressing their fear that they are not everything their partner needs or wants. The singer feels inadequate and trapped in self-doubt, but they continue to hold onto hope that their partner will wait for them despite their shortcomings. This is emphasized by the repetition of the phrase "I'll wait for you, if you wait for me."
As the song continues, the singer reflects on the past - wasted years and broken promises - and how it has affected their relationship. They acknowledge that sometimes it's hard to see what's wrong in the relationship until it's too late. However, despite the pain of the past, the singer trusts their partner to build them up again should they fall apart.
The song's chorus acts almost like a plea to their partner to wait for them; despite the doubt and pain, the singer is willing to take a chance and fight for their relationship.
Overall, the lyrics of the song Wait for You speak to the doubts and fears that can come with relationships, but also the hope and determination that comes with true love and commitment.
