365 days
Jason's Cat Died Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My resolution this year? I′ll disappear completely.
My absolution nearer, I'll reappear discretely

Calling underground people,
With your underground hearts;
You could start a mainstream fire
With your underground sparks.
Keeping all your underground thoughts
From the surface above,
Realize it is inside those minds
Where revolutions start.

Your only failure will be thinking you see right through me.
When things become much clearer, I′ll know just where you have been.

On and on I feel you slide
Deep into my memory, slowly.
I look behind to find you stood in front of me,
Adding to elements of subtraction.
Taken from that backwards heart,
And mistaken for love,
I search for ways to compensate for
Simple words no longer true to me.

My resolution this year? I'll disappear completely.
My absolution nearer, I'll reappear.
Your only failure will be thinking you see right through me.
When things become much clearer, I′ll know just where you have been.

Suddenly I′m in a place I've never seen before.
In front of me a faceless figure that I′ve seen before;
Undeterred by motions of distraction, and it's coming to me.

Your life (undeterred my motions of distractions)
You′re right (and it's coming to me)

You′re alive (undeterred by motions of distraction)
But your mind wont think what it's supposed to.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "365 Days" by Jason's Cat Died seem to be a reflection on oneself and the expectations and pressures from the outside world. The song urges the underground people to start a mainstream fire with their underground sparks, referring to the potential for revolutionary ideas to come from those who are marginalized or overlooked by the mainstream society above. The singer also talks about disappearing completely and then reappearing discretely, possibly referencing a desire for a fresh start or a break from the constant scrutiny.

Furthermore, the line "Your only failure will be thinking you see right through me" suggests that the singer knows there are preconceptions and assumptions made about them, but warns against making judgments without fully understanding the situation. As the song progresses, the lyrics become more abstract, describing a faceless figure that seems familiar and the confusion of the mind unable to think what it is supposed to.

Overall, the song seems to center around the idea of identity and breaking away from expectations to find one's own path. It also touches on the need for understanding and empathy, while warning against making assumptions and jumping to conclusions.

Thank you for posting this, it made my day. If you have any other tracks from this extinct band please post because I've been looking everywhere for it. They used to be one of my major faves when the DPC was still open in Tucson, AZ.

+Bill Wayne Hey. I don't think this band released more than this 7'' :/

simpletantra

They release a tape under this name, before morphing into Yellow Brick Road Kill. Only half of the band changed at that point: the drummer and bassist. Yellow Brick put out some material on tape through 4am records in Sierra Vista. I'll try my best to post some of this stuff on here before long.
