Jason Mraz Lyrics

Gonna go to the place that's the best
When I lay me down to die
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
Gotta have a friend in Jesus
So you know that when you die
He's gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
Gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
That's where you're gonna go when you die
When you die and they lay you to rest
You're gonna go to the place that's the best
Never been a sinner I never sinned
I got a friend in Jesus
So you know that when I die
He's gonna set me up with
The spirit in the sky
Oh set me up with the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I'm gonna go to the place that's the best
Go to the place that's the best
The lyrics to Jason Mraz's song "Spirit In the Sky" are about death and the afterlife. The singer is confident that they will go to the best place when they die. They believe they will go up to the spirit in the sky, which is likely a reference to heaven. The singer urges listeners to prepare themselves for death by having a friend in Jesus. The implication is that if Jesus is your friend, when you die, he will recommend you to go up to the spirit in the sky. The singer assures listeners that if they follow this advice and have Jesus as their friend, they too will go to the best place when they die.
The lyrics also suggest that the singer has never sinned and has a friend in Jesus who will help them get into heaven. The idea of being sinless implies that the singer is a devout Christian who has lived a righteous life, which would make them more likely to be recommended by Jesus. Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of hope and belief in an afterlife where the best place awaits those who have lived pure lives and have Jesus as their friend.
