Praisin' His Name
Jasper Street Co. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Down at the cross where my Savior died
Down where for cleansing from sin I cried
There to my heart was the blood applied
Glory to His Name!
[Chorus:]
Glory to His Name, glory to His Name
There to my heart was the blood applied
Glory to His Name!
I am so wondrously saved from sin
Jesus so sweetly abides within
There at the cross where He took me in
Glory to His Name!
[Chorus:]
Glory to His Name, glory to His Name
There to my heart was the blood applied
Glory to His Name!
Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin
I am so glad I have entered in
There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean
Glory to His Name!
[Chorus:]
Glory to His Name, glory to His Name
There to my heart was the blood applied
Glory to His Name!
Come to this fountain so rich and sweet
Cast thy poor soul at the Savior's feet
Plunge in today, and be made complete
Glory to His Name!
[Chorus:]
Glory to His Name, glory to His Name

There to my heart was the blood applied
Glory to His Name!

When the church in the 70s and 80s, and all throughout the 90s, admist the AIDS epidemic, had TURNED THEIR BACKS, it was Ann Nesby, the Clarke Sisters, and a host of so many others whose voices were speaking of salvation on the dance floors at 6, 7 and 8 AM, and where many MEMORIALS were shaking off on the nightclub dance floor . . . it was CHURCH, for many, that had given hope that everything was going to be all right . . .

Yes indeed, Tramine Hawkins they got ridiculed for it, sad that's what the Gospel is all about! Spreading it so it may reach the hurting, not just the churched.

It is not much told story, the impact christians had on the development of the early house and techno scene. Phuture - Your only Friend, Blaze, the Winans were there with the whole New Jersey crew. I have never been to the US in my life, but have followed the club scene since I was a wee teenager living as I do out in the boondocks :) God bless you, and Ann all the rest for their service and efforts.
