Jay's first big break was a co-production with Steve Aoki on Louis Tomlinsonβs smash hit single 'Just Hold On' which has been streamed over 500 million times worldwide and was a UK new entry at #2 and #51 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The single also topped the US Billboard Dance Chart, and went platinum in 13 countries and gold in another 13.
As an artist, Jays's sound is constantly evolving, with his most recent releases - 'Say Something' and 'Good For Me' blending inspirations from progressive Eric Prydz cuts such as 'Every Day' and the groovier, deeper, indie vibes of bands like RΓΌfΓΌs Du Sol.
As a remixer, Jay has had the honour of putting his spin on records for Dermot Kennedy, Kehlani & Ty Dolla $ign, Diplo, Niall Horan, Anne-Marie, Alan Walker, Snakehips & ZAYN and Seeb & Bastille.
During the pandemic, despite living in lockdown, Jay kept up his passion for performing live by starting a series of DJ sets from his picturesque East London balcony dubbed 'Sunset Sessions' which he streamed on his YouTube channel.
What started off as a way to keep spirits up amongst Jay and his closest friends and fans ended up taking Jay to the top of Dublin's Guinness Storehouse for a live DJ set from the iconic Gravity Bar. Set against the against the backdrop of Dublin's skyline, the episode is a world-class piece of content.
So What
Jay Pryor Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Soon be single if I keep up with this guise, with this guise
Drinking bottle after bottle
Hoping that would solve the problems
In my mind, in my mind
So what? So what? So what?
We keep on falling for one thing, well
'Cause in the morning, we're nothing, well
So what?
I'll be dancing, taking chances
There's no time for second glances
In this room, in this room
Spending money, I'm not sorry
I just wanna move my fancy
Close to you, close to you, ooh-ooh
So what? So what? So what?
We keep on falling for one thing, well
So what? So what? So what?
'Cause in the morning, we're nothing, well
So what?
The lyrics to Jay Pryor's song "So What" seem to describe the idea of losing oneself in the moment and ignoring the consequences of one's actions. The opening lines refer to the singer losing their signal and people, suggesting a disconnect from the outside world. They mention the possibility of being single if they continue with this guise, perhaps insinuating that the person is putting up a façade that is unsustainable. They turn to alcohol as a solution to their problems, but as the chorus suggests, they keep falling for the same thing over and over again, knowing that in the morning, there will be nothing to show for it.
The lyrics push the idea that the person is not too concerned about tomorrow, as they're too busy living in the moment. They are dancing and taking chances, with no regard for the past or the future, living their life to the fullest. The singer spends their money to enjoy the present moment, and they want to be close to someone they admire. The chorus repeats the same message, almost like a mantra, that it doesn't matter what they do tonight because they will wake up to nothing the next morning.
