Draw The Line
Jeffrey Martin Lyrics

But I do
And you don't remember promising to never do it again
But I do
Now you're down on your knees one more time
And I don't know where to draw the line
And this house that we built is up in smoke
No, I don't know how to let you go
You don't remember everything that you broke
But I do
You don't remember all the poison that you spoke
But I do
Now you're down on your knees one more time
And I don't know where to draw the line
And this house that we built is up in smoke
And I don't know how to let you go
No, I don't know how to let you go
I'm buried under water
Holding my breath for two
And I wasn't made to carry another
Like you
And you don't remember the way you used to hold me
But I do
And you don't remember the things you whispered to me
But I do
Now you're down on your knees one more time
And I don't know where to draw the line
And this house that we built is up in smoke
And I don't know how to let you go
No, I don't know how to let you go
No, I don't know how to let you go
The Jeffrey Martin song "Draw the Line" is a heart-wrenching ballad about a relationship that has reached its breaking point. The singer is struggling to forgive their partner for past mistakes and trying to figure out how to move on from the wreckage of their past. The song is sung in a stark, almost mournful tone, reflecting the deep sense of loss and heartbreak that comes from realizing that a once-promising relationship has run its course.
The opening lines of the song set the scene for the heartbreak to come, with the singer stating that their partner doesn't remember all the plans they made together or the promises they broke. The singer, however, can't forget those moments, and they're left with the difficult task of deciding whether to continue the relationship or let go entirely. The chorus repeats the lines, "And I don't know where to draw the line, And this house that we built is up in smoke, And I don't know how to let you go," emphasizing the emotions of confusion and despair that come with the end of a relationship.
The final verse, "I'm buried under water/Holding my breath for two/And I wasn't made to carry another/Like you," adds an extra layer to the song's meaning. It suggests that the singer has been carrying the weight of the relationship and their partner's mistakes for far too long and that they need to move on for their own well-being.
Overall, "Draw the Line" is a moving and poignant song that captures the pain and struggle of letting go of a once-cherished relationship.

I recently saw Jeffrey and Anna locally in upstate NY (Galway) in a very small and intimate venue. They were so damn good, together and solo. This kind of music isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy the power of words, nuance, and feeling you just can't do much better than this. I would see them again and again. Looking forward to when they come back to our area.

This is the style of music that remind me of the stuff my step dad listened to. I remember laying near the stereo just listening to every word and chord intently. This reminds me a lot of what Vern Gosdin sang.

Arrived at this song after a drive and hearing Thrit Store Dress on the radio. I had to check out more of Jeffrey Martin. I'm an old dude, a musician and writer. I'm not easily impressed. But here I am.
