Monet grew up in various towns in New Jersey, shuffled back and forth between divorced parents. It was this exposure to all sides of both culture and race that gave Monet the confidence and knowledge to use her vocal talents. She settled in Trenton, NJ, as a hair stylist for a bit, but she knew music was in her blood and she had to act on her impulses. She took a job as a chef in a Virginia restaurant and by chance, the entire Ruff Ryders roster and staff came into her workplace for dinner in 1999. DMX, their most popular artist on the tour, hit it off well with Monet and eventually the group handed her several phone numbers to contact them. The company encouraged her to keep at it, so she moved back to New Jersey and took three jobs to support her goals. A contract with Dreamworks finally came her way and she recorded her debut album with producer Tyrice Jones in 2001. The final result, titled Love & War, was released in the summer of 2002. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide

Know your own game
Live your own game
Let them know you doing your thing
And you don't need nothing
[Chorus]
[Hook]
I don't need no body but myself
I can stand on my own, on my own
Baby, I don't need no body but myself
I can stand on my own, on my own
[Eve]
Uh uh uh yeah
Hold up
Come on
Listen up playboy
I'm like the pick of the litter
And if I want to cop it from what shines and glitters
I do it all from my bills to toys in the mall
And I ain't sayin' I'm perfect
But there ain't too many flaws dawg
Don't get offended
'Cause I'm livin' happily
And just cause I got it
Don't mean you can't pamper me
Accept gifts but that don't put a stamp on me
Feel me baby on it wit BC and Jerzee
Yeah
[Chorus and Hook]
Say yeah! [Repeat until fade]
In the song "Yeah" by Jerzee Monet, we see the artist reveling in the feeling of being independent and self-reliant. She starts off the song by saying that she is feeling good and that she is going shopping to buy her own things. The artist then talks about celebrating and having fun without the need for a man's contribution. She calls her girls and tells them to make their own money and spend it how they please. She asserts that she doesn't need a man and that she has earned everything she has on her own.
The chorus of the song drives home the message of independence and self-sufficiency further. The lyrics urge women to have their own money in the bank, be confident in their hotness, and hold their own to make it big. The rapper Eve comes in with a verse that echoes the same sentiment. She talks about living a happy life and treating herself to what she wants. She tells men that just because they can give her gifts doesn't mean she is beholden to them.
Overall, "Yeah" is a song about celebrating independence and self-sufficiency. It has the potential to empower women and make them feel proud of living life on their terms.
