Truck Drivin' Man
Jim & Jesse Lyrics

A little place called Hamburger Dance
I heard that old jukebox playing
A song about a truck driving man
Pour me another cup of coffee
For it is the best in the land
I put a nickel in the jukebox
The waitress just brought me some coffee
I thanked her but called her again
I said that old song sure does hit me
'Cause I'm a truck driving man
Pour me another cup of coffee
For it is the best in the land
I put a nickel in the jukebox
And play that truck driving man
I climbed back aboard my old semi
And then like a flash I was gone
I got that old truck wheels rollin'
I'm on my way to San Antone
Pour me another cup of coffee
For it is the best in the land
I put a nickel in the jukebox
And play that truck driving man
And play that truck driving man
In Jim & Jesse's song "Truck Drivin' Man," the singer tells the story of stopping at a roadhouse in Texas called Hamburger Dance where he hears a song about a truck driver playing on the jukebox. He orders a cup of coffee and puts a nickel in the jukebox to play the same song again. The waitress brings him another cup of coffee, and he comments on how the song speaks to him because he is also a truck driver. He then climbs back into his truck and heads off towards San Antone.
The song depicts the life of a truck driver, who spends his days on the road driving long distances, stopping only at roadhouses to rest and have a cup of coffee. The song also speaks to the idea of the traveling musician, as the singer meets the truck driver in a roadhouse and listens to his music on the jukebox.
The lyrics in "Truck Drivin' Man" capture the essence of life on the road, the love of coffee, and the connection that comes from sharing a common experience. The song has become a classic of the country music genre and is beloved by fans of traditional country music.

That mandolin solo absolutely rocks - and of course he was one of the first to play cross-picking I seem to recall?

Pretty sure he invented it. Note the crappy camera man's focus on the right hand when the left hand was just as complex and interesting!
