Jimmie's Chicken Shack has always produced an indie grunge/funk/jazz/ska sound similar: Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, etc. Mainstream popularity has fallen for Jimmie's Chicken Shack after a brief peak thanks to heavy MTV support for Do Right. After an extended hiatus, JCS reformed w/ a slightly modified lineup, maintaining a substantial fan following.
Released four studio albums; Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope (1997), Bring Your Own Stereo (1999), Re.Present (2004) and Fail On Cue (2008). Prominent singles include "High" and "Dropping Anchor" (both from Pushing...), "Do Right" (from Bring Your Own Stereo), and "Falling Out" (featuring Aaron Lewis of Staind) (from Re.present). A fourth studio album, Fail On Cue, was released in January 2008.

Jimmie's Chicken Shack Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
There's some things I'll take advantage of
And once I get my feet back on the ground
There's some things I won't ignore
You put fear in the place of strength
When sometimes crooked roads
Would better suit you
Feeling still remains
But lately I've been lost
Inside your song
Could it be forever
Is just a bit to long
I should've known better
Then to stare into the sun
Spiraling an ocean-size teardrop
Where will it take me now
Where will it take me now
You're fear in the face of strength
I guess spinning 'round
Till dizzy better suits you
So cling onto your blame
At least I hold a place inside of you
Won't give up I'll get back on my feet again
To get up and get knocked on my feet again
Connecting your foot to my seat and then
Prepare for it to repeat again
Cause it will repeat again
Cause it's just repeating
Spiraling away admist the gloom
Spiraling the day's impending doom
Where will it take me
Spiraling away
Or will it take me
Spiraling the daze with spare to room
Where will it take me now
The lyrics of Jimmie's Chicken Shack's song "Spiraling" seem to express a feeling of being lost and overwhelmed, and the desire to get back on track. The singer implies that something or someone has caused them to lose their footing, either through fear or by clinging too hard to blame. They express a sense of regret for having gotten too caught up in a relationship ("lately I've been lost inside your song") and a sense of unease about what the future holds ("where will it take me now?").
The repeated use of the word "spiraling" gives the impression of something spinning out of control, perhaps implying a feeling of being caught in a cycle of self-destruction. However, the singer also seems determined to break free and regain control ("won't give up, I'll get back on my feet again"). The lyrics are somewhat ambiguous in places, leaving room for interpretation and personal connection.
Overall, the song seems to capture the feeling of being lost, but with a glimmer of hope that things can improve. The singer acknowledges their mistakes and expresses a desire to move forward, even if it's not entirely clear what that will look like.

If I get my feet back on the ground
I need to regain stability and focus

Than to neglect my own well-being
Spiraling an ocean-size teardrop
Going down a path of intense emotion
Where will it take me now
What is the outcome of this path?
You're fear in the face of strength
You let fear overpower strength
I guess spinning 'round
I suppose it's better to take the dizzying path

So cling onto your blame
You hold onto your mistakes instead of moving forward
At least I hold a place inside of you
I still have a connection to you
Won't give up I'll get back on my feet again

Cause it will repeat again
It's bound to happen again
Spiraling away admist the gloom
Falling into a dark place
Spiraling the day's impending doom
Falling into negative anticipation for the future
Where will it take me
What is the outcome of this path?
Spiraling away
Falling further and further
Or will it take me
What is the outcome of this path?
Spiraling the daze with spare to room
Falling into a confusing, aimless state
Where will it take me now
What is the outcome of this path?
