Oh Oh I'm Falling in Love Again
Jimmie Rodgers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Uh-oh, I'm falling in love again, uh-oh...

Many's the time I've been two-timed
Many's the time I've been stung
Many a honey took all of my money, but
That was when I was much younger.

Made up my mind to be careful
Made up my mind to beware
I was alright until until Saturday night
I met a girl with the goldenest hair.

CHORUS:
Uh-oh, I'm falling in love again, uh-oh
I thought I'd never get caught again
Never in a hundred, never in a thousand,
Never in a million years,
Never in a million years

She had the bluest of blue eyes
She had the cherriest lips
Shouldn't have have kissed her
I tried to resist her but
One kiss, and I was a goner

I couldn't run if I'd wanted
I couldn't run if I tried
Saw what I liked
And I liked what I saw
And my heart went along for the ride.

(CHORUS)

That was the end of my roamin'
Now that it's over, I'm glad
Through gallavantin'
I got in a slam and I'm
Uh-oh, I'm a ring-a-ding daddy

Rockin' the cradle at nighttime
Livin' and lovin' each day
Got me a wife
She's the light of my life
And when I kiss her each morning I say

(CHORUS)

Never in a hundred, never in a thousand,
Never in a million years,

Never in a million years
Uh-oh, uh-oh

Overall Meaning

The song "Oh Oh I'm Falling in Love Again" by Jimmie Rodgers describes the singer's romantic experiences and how he was initially cautious about getting involved with someone due to previous heartbreaks. He has been cheated before and has lost money to many girls, but he did not let those experiences make him disillusioned with love. However, he meets a girl on a Saturday night with beautiful golden hair and falls deeply in love with her, expressing that his resistance crumbled with just one kiss. He then sings about how he cannot resist her and his heart overrules his caution. Rodgers sings about how he cannot run from his love even if he wanted to, and how he has never believed in falling in love again after being deceived by many girls.

The chorus of the song "Oh Oh I'm Falling in Love Again" repeats the line "Uh-oh, I'm falling in love again." This line is used to express the singer's realization that he has fallen in love again, despite his efforts to avoid being hurt. He then adds the lines "I thought I'd never get caught again, never in a hundred, never in a thousand, never in a million years" to express his belief that he would never fall in love again after his previous experiences.

The song seemingly ends happily, with the singer describing that he has found the love of his life and now appreciates the value of having a partner. The singer has matured and now understands the value of finding a life partner and how it genuinely feels to be in love. Jimmie Rodger's "Oh Oh I'm Falling in Love Again" lyrics are an honest account of the struggle a person may face while falling in love while struggling with the fear of getting hurt again.

I remember being a little kid in the mid to late 90s and my grandma would take me to preschool while listening to an oldies station that was really popular at the time and they would play this song every day when I was on the way to school or out running errands with my grandma. Man I wish I could go back to those times

@laurac555

My 2 year old grandson loves this song...so a new generation is learning how great the music was then.
