Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" seem to be about a man trying to woo a woman who he knows wants him but is hesitant to give in. The opening lines express a desire for everyone to get up and dance or party together. The following lyrics suggest that there is a miscommunication happening between the man and the woman he is interested in. He seems to be saying that they are not on the same page and may not be able to connect on a deeper level.
