More than the solo, the accompaniment of Walter Horton in this piece is freaking sublime. The way he ends the riffs on the minor 7th, so simple yet completely spot on.
This is the song I would show any harp lovers who wonder why, as often said, Big Walter had the best note selection of his times.

Big Walter indeed. I'm not using my real name here but I personally had the pleasure of playing lead guitar for the late harpman Junior Wells for a few years, touring globally , rec two albums with Wells so I really love good harp. Junior was a minimalist in his last years & I loved his style but Big Walter has always been my fave..

on Harp is Big Walter Horton who is considered to have produced some of the most Beautiful Harp work in the history of Blues... recorded with Sun, Chess, Ace, SunBox, Alligator and Blind Pig just to name a few!... some of his best solo work was behind Jimmie Rogers.... never a huge solo success but played with all the guitar legends... died poverty stricken, ignored by record companies and radio stations... Still considered to be one of the Best Harp players in the genere of the Blues.

I don't doubt you for a minute as I don't ever remember seeing those liner notes or even the lp jacket as somebody probably gave it to me on a cassette back in the 70's but I have always thought that to be Little Walter Jacobs on Harp. I even thought he re-released it as a Little Walter tune later but I can't find it anywhere when I search online ... the effect of time and space on an old head, lol.

good rockin charles was supposed to the harp player on this recording. the story goes that charles aka henry lee bester was either too nervous or too drunk to play so they found big walter shooting dice somewhere and got him at the last minute ! not sure if he even had time to practice....
