If you watch some of the interviews from the actors in the original musical, they were approached every night by people at the stage door telling them how much it meant to them, about how it changed their lives. There were many coming out occasions at that show. I strongly suspect the entire cast and crew of the movie understood how much their show meant to so many people.

I sat down in a really cynical way to watch The Prom. I didn't expect it to be anything other than this corny, slightly glitzy musical, but as a pansexual man who has struggled with his sexuality throughout my life, it really spoke to me. It's a triumph of the human spirit; it trusts us to believe in goodness and hope and love. That has to be worth celebrating. This song deserves to become a Greatest Showman-esque anthem.

I really related to this song as well. It even helped me come out to a friend! :) This film made me feel seen and I’m sure so many others saw themselves on screen, maybe for the first time and that’s really special. Young kids deserve to see queer actors and characters in leading roles so they know they can live their lives without limits! I whole-heartedly agree that Unruly Heart deserves to become an anthem like the Greatest Showman!

I'm a bi woman in a straight marriage. Pretty much erased for all practical purposes, in other words. But two of my three kids are enby (one pansexual, one ace), and suddenly I'm in tears over moments like this for totally different reasons from my own. I've tried to raise them with as much support as I can, knowing that they won't get much from the world so they'd better find it at home. But it's so beautiful to see kids opening up and embracing who they are, even if it's just for a few moments in a movie. Watching it feels like everything's going to be all right for us all, even if you know that it doesn't actually make that true.

@Jessie Burton correct it is on the soundtrack. But it can still be edited out later on. A lot of stuff in post production can get edit out even if it’s still on a recording. Which most likely means that it was intended to be in the film but later cut or edited before it aired. Happens all the time.

I heard she was a Broadway Star but when Broadway shut down due to the Pandemic I read she now lives in Ohio. Jo Ellen's mother is Monica Pellman. Although the movie "The Prom" takes place in "Indiana", it was not filmed there. I read most of it was actually filmed in Los Angeles, California.

I so love this part of the film. I was a closeted teenager who also suffered from internalized homophobia for years growing up in a catholic conservative household, I found comfort in YouTube coming out videos. Teens and even adults sharing their stories and internal struggles brought a sense of camaraderie to me and that it's okay to be gay. It's not wrong. What's wrong is the people's malicious attitude toward us. I've drawn so much strength out of Ingrid Nilsen's coming out video. I may have not come out completely to my family but I was able to come out to myself.

For those who is unfamiliar with Ingrid Nilsen, she was one of the first beauty YouTube creator in the early 2010's. Seeing a non textbook masculine lesbian was knew to me (from where I'm from anyways) and being gay doesn't have to change the way I carry or dress myself. It's okay to be a girl and like girls.

I wish I had this kind of movie when I was a teenager struggling with my internalized homophobia and hurting inside.
I genuinely think that this movie can bring a comfort for those LGBTQ+ kids who are watching it.

I cried listening to this song, not gonna lie.

This was such a good scene, gets me tearing everytime
Some of those teens though that were watching her through the screen, I feel like were just OVERACTING

This has to be one of my favorite songs. And the emotion in everybodys voices just makes it that much more powerful. That one girl crying while singing gets me every single time as well as the high note at the end. I just cant get enough. And as a trans teen, seeing that trans lesbian fills my heart up so much.

I can’t be myself around my parents- but this song truly helped me get through the summer with society. When I go back to school, I won’t be nervous to hold hands down the hallway with my trans bf, I won’t be scared to wear my rainbow, safety pin earrings. I will feel amazing and everyone can know me, whether they like it or not.
But my parents are homophonic, mom said I need my church in my life…but I just got confirmed and baptized this year…

I just straight up cannot tell dad. It’s scary. No matter how much I fight, he will be in denial or I’ll keep fighting and get in trouble. Maybe even get kicked out of the house…..but I’m staying strong.

Everyone, be yourself.:.it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. <33 I am a pansexual teen and I’m living life for the most part.

I love this movie and I'm straight. It has a great message. I think it's for anyone who's afraid to stand up for what they believe in. All of the characters are amazing. Don't let anyone stop you from being with who you love, doing what love or looking down on you because you're different

The lyric where it says “this heart is the best part of me” hit home, I think I needed to hear that self affirmation, because it’s the part of ourselves we are usually told to hide or at the very least the reason we have to hide in the first place, but claiming it out loud like that just feels SO good for the soul.

The film Glow reached all my emotions, from the story line that was hard for Emma/Melissa and how things started to happen, the most beautiful songs, the cast choice and the splendid continue ty. I'm not gay but l could understand how the hiding of each other and need to hide that hurt, and yet put a normal smile despite it. When l first watched it l watched straight again and am doing the same again now.. The songs meet my love of music because they are so beautiful.
