In 1998, O'Meara started her music career in the hip hop/rap group, 2-4 Family. She remained with the band for only one single release, Stay. In 1997 Jo was recruited to join a new pop group S Club 7. She was a prominent member of the British group, singing most of the group's lead vocals, as well as acting with the group in their own TV series and in their movie, Seeing Double. The band split in 2003.
In 2005 she signed a solo record deal with Sanctuary Records. She released her debut single What Hurts The Most in September 2005 followed by her album Relentless. Unfortunately both failed to achieve chart success and she left her record label prior to the release of a second single.
In February 2006 she took part in the BBC reality show Just the Two of Us. Her singing partner was Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain. The pair came third in the competition. The following year Jo appeared on Celebrity Big Brother with plans to use the shows popularity to relaunch her music career. She initially received a positive reaction from the crowd and was the initial favourite to win, however she became embroiled in controversy and was accused of racist behaviour towards fellow contestant Shilpa Shetty. O'Meara was the fourth housemate to be evicted and upon leaving the Big Brother house she found herself amidst public outrage. Numerous newspaper and television interviews followed with O'Meara apologising for her behaviour but denying any racial motivation.
Since November 2008, O'Meara has been performing in various nightclubs, universities and Butlins holiday camps around the United Kingdom along with fellow S Club members Bradley McIntosh and Paul Cattermole as S Club 3. She has since joined Innocent Records and has recorded a second studio album These Little Moments due for release later in 2010.
Every Kind Of People

Keeps a man upon his feet
Holding down his job
Trying to show he can't be bought
Ooh, it takes every kind of people
To make what life's about, yeah
Ooh every kind of people
Someone's looking for a lead
In his duty to a King or to a creed
Protecting what he feels is right
Fights against wrong with his life
There's no profit in deceit
Honest men know that
Revenge do not taste sweet
Whether yellow, black or white
Each and every man's the same inside
Ooh, It takes every kind of people
To make what life's about, yeah
It takes every kind of people
To make the world go round
You know that love's the only goal
That could bring a peace to any soul
Hey, and every man's the same
He wants the sunshine in his rain
Ooh, It takes every kind of people
To make what life's about, yeah
It takes every kind of people
To make the world go round
It takes every kind of people
To make what life's about, yeah
Every kind of people
To make the world go round
Every kind of people
To make what life's about, yeah
Every kind of people
To make the world go round
(Repeat to fade)
The song "Every Kind Of People" by Jo O'Meara highlights the fact that every individual is unique, but they all come together to make the world a better place. The song argues that people, no matter their skin color, social standing, or beliefs, should be treated equally. It is mentioned in the song that each person has a duty to do everything possible to create peace in the world, and that can only be achieved by accepting and living amongst people, regardless of different backgrounds.
The first verse talks about a man who is working hard to make ends meet for his family. He takes pride in his work and is determined to be an honest and respectable person. The line "Holding down his job, trying to show he can't be bought," suggests that the character is honest, and no amount of money can make him lose his moral principles. The second verse is about a man who fights for what he believes in, even if it means putting his life in danger. The line "Protecting what he feels is right, fights against wrong with his life" shows that sometimes, people are willing to die for their principles.
The chorus repeats the idea that it takes every kind of people to make the world go round. The song emphasizes that every person has their unique qualities, but when everyone comes together, it creates a better world. The song's message extends further to suggest that love is the most important factor to achieve peace in the world, and every person deserves happiness.
