And a promise to be near each time you call
And the only heart I own
For you and you alone
That's all, that's all
I can only give you country walks in springtime
And a hand to hold when leaves begin to fall
Will warm the winter night
That's all, that's all
There are those, I am sure, that have told you
They would give you the world for a toy
All I have are these arms to enfold you
And a love time can never destroy
If you're wondering what I'm asking in return, dear
You'll be glad to know that my demands are small
Say it's me that you'll adore
For now and ever more
That's all, that's all
If you're wondering what I'm asking in return, dear
You'll be glad to know that my demands are small
Say it's me that you'll adore
For now and ever more
That's all, that's all
The lyrics of Joe Williams's song "That's All" are romantic and heartfelt, expressing the singer's desire to give his love to someone special. He starts by singing that he can only give his love to someone for eternity and promises to be there for them whenever they need him. He tells them that the only heart he has belongs to them and them alone. The chorus repeats the phrase "that's all, that's all," emphasizing the idea that all he has to offer is his love and devotion.
In the second verse, Williams goes on to describe the simple pleasures he can provide, like taking walks in the countryside and being there to hold someone's hand as the seasons change. He promises a love that will warm them on cold winter nights, expressing that his love is steady and constant. The bridge of the song acknowledges that others may have promised the world to his loved one, but he has only himself to give.
The final chorus repeats the same sentiment as the first, that all he wants is to be loved in return. He asks for nothing more than to be adored by the one he loves for now and forever.
Overall, "That's All" is a tender love song that emphasizes the importance of genuine affection and devotion over material possessions.
