Biography
John Hogan hit the Country Music scene with a bang in 1988 when he took a gamble and spent his mortgage money to realise a dream. He recorded a song called Brown Eyes that was taught to him by his mother. The song was an instant hit shooting straight into the top ten of the Irish charts. John at the time was working as a Supervisor with the Irish company Bord na Mona in Tullamore, Co. Offaly and the success of the song took him completely by surprise. The song was so popular with radio listeners that they were calling the radio stations wanting to know more about this new voice. The radio statios were kind of stuck, they knew nothing about him. Within 2 weeks John had left his job at the factory and was on the road with his new band. Such was his popularity that almost straight away John had become a big country music star in Ireland and was packing venues to the point that they were turning people away. John signed with Harmac Records and his first album My Feelings for you was released, it became the best selling country album ever in Ireland and produced many irish chart hits. His popularity had now got the attention of Mick Clerkin who was the owner of London based Ritz Records. John was signed to Ritz and recorded many albums for them including the Nashville Album, which was recorded in the home of Country music. John was now one of the biggest attractions in the music business in Ireland and was working upto six nights per week. Little did john know that an undiagnosed ear problem was to do serious damage to his voice. John was forced to take a break from the business for 5 years on doctors orders. His return album was called Broken Silence. After that he recorded Where I come from, an album of country standards. John's new album is called The Anniversary album. John is back touring Ireland again with a new band.

In a foreign land 12 centuries back in time
Where the sunnkeeps burninโฒdown on a hole drilled in the ground
And I dream about the girl I left behind
Well I signed the dotted line and I thought in a few years time
I'd be home and we cannstart a brandnew life
But everything went wrong and I just donโฒt know how long
And I wish I was rollin'home,
Rollin'home home to the place I long to be
Oo-Ooh rollinโฒhome, rollinโฒhome there is someone waitin'rhere for me
Thereโฒs a law that rules this land that I just didn't understand
I didnโฒt know that I was doing wrong
But they don't seem to care and they all do it when theyโฒre over there
But here your face is justice of our God
All the money that I saved to pay for better days
Just can 't make up for how I miss you so
There's no consolation prize oh but when I close my eyes
Iโฒm dreaminโฒof you in our new home
The lyrics of John Hogan's song "Rollin' Home" resonate with anyone who has ever left their home and loved ones behind in pursuit of a better future elsewhere. The song is about a man who left his home for better pay and ended up in a foreign land, 12 centuries back in time. He is homesick and dreams about the girl he left behind. The sun is scorching in the land where he now lives and works, and he works in a hole drilled into the ground. The man signed a contract thinking he would be back home in a few years, but things have not worked out as planned. He has committed a crime he did not know was wrong, but he must pay for it, and he does not know how long he will have to stay.
The song expresses the man's longing for his home and the person he loves. He wishes he could be rolling home, back to where he really belongs. He wants to be with the person who is waiting for him. The man is feeling the weight of the law that rules the foreign land where he is working. He did not understand what he was doing wrong, but they do not seem to care. He has saved money for better days that will not come, and he misses his loved one dearly. His only consolation is dreaming of a new home with the person he loves.
The song is a poignant reflection on the struggles of those who leave their homes and loved ones behind to pursue a better future elsewhere. It speaks of homesickness, loneliness, and the longing for a place to call home. Despite the hardships, the man remains hopeful that one day he will be able to return home to the person he loves.
