Even when I try to have fun and make plans with friends, something goes wrong. The neighbor upstairs always complains about the noise.

It seems like misfortune is just a part of my life and I will have to get used to it.

Just catchin' colds and missin' trains
My misfortune seems so trivial compared to the bigger picture. I only catch colds and miss trains, while others suffer greater misfortunes.

Everything happens to me
No matter what I do, everything seems to go wrong. Misfortune is a constant companion.

I never miss a thing
It seems like I am always present for every misfortune that happens to me.

I've had the measles and the mumps
My list of misfortunes includes even getting the measles and mumps, illnesses that are usually associated with childhood.

Even in a game of cards, I can't catch a break. Every time I play my winning card, my partner trumps it.

My partner always trumps
It seems like my partner will always have the upper hand and I will always come up short.

Guess I'm just a fool who never looks before he jumps
