Gimmie Some Company
Joseph Arthur & The Lonely Astronauts Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Give it some light
Give it a little bit of your time
Give it a little bit
Give it some thought
Give it a little bit of your life
Let me know what you′re thinking of
We can walk by the sea
I can hold your hand in mine
Gimmie a little kiss
Gimmie a smile
Gimmie a moment before you decide
Give it a little bit
Give it some life
Give it a little bit of your time, your time, your time
Gimmie some company
Let me know what you're thinking of
We can talk easily
I can hold your hand in mine
The lyrics to "Gimmie Some Company" by Joseph Arthur & The Lonely Astronauts express a desire for human connection and the importance of investing time and thought into relationships. The repeated refrain of "Give it a little bit / Give it some [something]" emphasizes the need for effort and energy in building and maintaining connections with others. The lines "Gimmie some company / Let me know what you're thinking of / We can walk by the sea / I can hold your hand in mine" evoke a sense of intimacy and vulnerability, with the singer seeking a deeper understanding of another person.
The use of the word "gimmie" in the song title and chorus implies a pleading tone, as if the singer is asking for something they desperately need. Despite the vulnerability expressed in the lyrics, the song has a hopeful and optimistic tone, with lines such as "We can talk easily" suggesting that communication and understanding are possible if both parties are willing to put in the effort.
