Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Joseph William Morgan feat. Shadow Royale Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ain′t no mountain high?
Ain't no valley low?
Ain′t no river wide enough, baby?
If you need me
Call me
No matter where you are
No matter how far
Just call my name
I'll be there in a hurry
You don't need to worry
Cause baby there ain′t no mountain high enough
Ain′t no valley home enough
Ain't no river wide enough
To keep me away from you
Cause baby there ain′t no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley home enough
Ain′t no river wide enough
To keep me away from you
Ain't no mountain high enough
To keep my away from you
Ain′t no valley home enough
To keep me away from you
Ain't no river wide enough

To keep me away from you
Ain't no mountain high

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Joseph William Morgan feat. Shadow Royale's song Ain't No Mountain High Enough convey a message of unconditional love and commitment to being there for someone no matter what. The singer is assuring his beloved that they can always count on him, no matter the distance or obstacles that may stand in their way. The repetition of the phrase "ain't no mountain high enough" and variations of it emphasize the singer's unwavering dedication to their relationship.

The song's theme is a reflection of the Motown era, as it was originally recorded by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell in 1967. The song's lyrics were written by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson, who were a songwriting and performing duo known as Ashford & Simpson. Their inspiration for the song reportedly came from a conversation they overheard about a dramatic mountain rescue that took place in Colorado, and they used the idea of overcoming obstacles to convey a message of love and support.

One interesting aspect of the song is that it was originally recorded as a duet, but Morgan's version features only one vocalist. Nevertheless, Shadow Royale's contributions as a producer add a contemporary twist to the classic tune. Another interesting fact is that the song has been covered numerous times over the years, including versions by Diana Ross, Michael Bolton, and Aretha Franklin.

Reminds me of this story I once read about these tribespeople worshipping a radio station on a mountainside
Took place after ww3
Everyday, the outpost would play music and notify the tribespeople of the weather and daily news
It wasn't until much later that it was all automated and that the news were being played back from days past
