Best Of Me
Josh Ramsay Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It feels like home, doesn't look right
The truth seems wrong in the right light
Or maybe everyone and everything has changed
Too long at the bottom of a quick fix
I put one foot forward but it don't stick
Ain't it funny how things you tell yourself
Remain the same when you're without
Can you forgive me love, forgive me love?
Forgive me love, forgive me love
Can you forgive me love, forgive me love?
You know I just can't be without you

I tried a new look, I tried to push through
I tried to drink you away, but it's no use
And I beg and borrow to steal tomorrow
But you got, you got the best of me
I put my foot down, it oughta move soon
Another brand new day but I'm old news
So don't think about it, I don't work without it
You know, you got, you got the best of me

So forgive me love, forgive me love
Would you forgive me love, forgive me love?
Would you forgive me love, forgive me love?
You got, you got the best of me

Looks like home, doesn't feel right
The drinks don't work, but the drugs might
Everything decays to a stupor haze for now
You know the bottle hits hard when you're too thin
Last night's lust is today's problem
You can lose yourself in somebody else
But you're losin' either way so now

Would you forgive me love, forgive me love?
Would you forgive me love, forgive me love?
Would you forgive me love, forgive me love?
You know I just can't be without you

I tried a new look, I tried to push through
I tried to drink you away, but it's no use
And I beg and borrow to steal tomorrow
You know you got, you got the best of me
I put my foot down, it oughta move soon
Another brand new day but I'm old news
So don't think about it, I don't work without it
You know, you got, you got the best of me

So forgive me love, forgive me love
Would you forgive me love, forgive me love?
Would you forgive me love, forgive me love?
You know, you got, you got the best of me

I've been secretly depending
On a real life surprise ending
So never mind if I'm pretending here
You got, you got the best of me
Hey
You got, you got the best

I tried a new look, I tried to push through
I tried to drink you away, but it's no use (no use)
And I beg and borrow to steal tomorrow
You know you got, you got the best of me
I put my foot down, it outta move soon
Another brand new day but I'm old news (old news)
So don't think about it, I don't work without it
You know, you got, you got the best of me

So forgive me love, forgive me love (forgive me love)
Would you forgive me love, forgive me love? (Forgive me love)

Would you forgive me love, forgive me love? (Forgive me love)
You got, you got the best of me

Been listening to Josh’s vocals for over a decade, and I was shocked to learn that the first part of the verse is him singing! What a range! 👏

TheFlindach

Same boat club. I listened to it several times and only after watching this video did I realize it was him.

Emizard

Holy crow, this feels like a whole new dimension of Josh's vocals. He fits so well into the country vibe

Danielle Oakes

I know right! When I heard this when it came out, I was in total shock, but absolutely loved it!!

It's crazy how underrated Josh is. His vocals and musicality are insane. After over a decade of consistently releasing quality album after quality album it doesn't make sense why Marianas Trench doesn't have a bigger fanbase outside of Canada. They deserve the same recognition as bands like Fallout Boy and Panic at the Disco.

Jaeme McEntyre

It’s the Gord Downey effect. The Tragically Hip is another great band that has had so much success in Canada but outside of Canada it’s almost non existent. It’s so sad to see. Either way they, both bands are unapologetically Canadian and amazing. Let’s hope Marianas Trench and Josh finds super stardom world wide.

So obsessed with this song. I knew Josh and Dallas would be an amazing combination. I was honestly so surprised when the teaser for this song first dropped, because I was expecting a more Default-esque return for Dallas on it, not a country debut for Josh, but I am SO in love with it.
Just when I think I cannot be more impressed with Josh Ramsay, he proves he's even more versatile than I imagined. I genuinely don't think there is anything that man can't do, musically.

Love seeing all the Canadian collabs, especially Chad and Dallas first considering Nickelback and Default were both huge parts of my early musical education.💜

Luca Ciani

A beautiful piece for an artist who can cross all musical genres, good Josh

Caro GalLasc

no way that wash Josh singing the whole first verse!! Damn, that talent

Riley Bee

Omg for the first few verses at the beginning I was so sure that was Dallas but damn does Josh have incredible range. I wouldn’t be surprised if this man could rap as well, there really is no limit to what he can do
