Together with production partner DJ Paul, Juicy J played an important role in the South's rise to prominence within the once East and West Coast dominated rap industry. Behind the duo's leadership, Three 6 Mafia rose from an underground phenomenon in Memphis to a nationally recognized rap empire, spinning off numerous solo albums for the collective's many members in the mid- to late '90s. Like his production partner, Juicy J specialized in dark, eerie tracks driven by bass-heavy beats and haunting sounds. He also raps as a member of Three 6 Mafia. Moreover, Three 6 Mafia ventured into filmmaking with Choices: The Movie and Choices II: The Set-Up, a straight-to-video film starring most of the Three 6 Mafia's collective, Hypnotize Minds. Juicy J (born Jordan Houston) and DJ Paul (Paul Beauregard) first came together at the dawn of the '90s, when they worked as DJs in the Memphis area. The two soon began producing their own tracks and invited numerous Memphis rappers to rap over the beats. They released the resulting tracks locally as Three 6 Mafia; years later these recordings would resurface as re-releases. In 1995, the loose collective Three 6 Mafia began to form and self-released its debut album, Mystic Stylez. The album became an underground success, and Three 6 Mafia, in turn, signed a distribution deal with Relativity for its Hypnotized Minds imprint. Throughout the late '90s, DJ Paul and Juicy J produced numerous albums a year for Hypnotized Minds and capitalized on the lucrative distribution deal. By the end of the decade, the two producers were at the helm of an empire, having extended their brand to alarming lengths, culminating with their commercial breakthrough album, When the Smoke Clears (2000), which debuted at number six on Billboard's album chart.

Ain't no second guessing, they can never get as fly as me
I don't care how much you smoking, you can't get as high as me
It don't matter where I'm going, I'm gon' bring that pipe with me
'Cause talk is cheap I am a sight to see
I let her ride the D
She planning her life with me
I practise what I preach
You can lie them niggas and finesse dem hoes
But don't you ever fucking lie to me
Can't trust these niggas, can't trust these hoes
That's the way the game go, better watch your main hoe
Niggas only stick around just to get the bankroll
Bitches wanna hold you down when the money can't fold (hold on)
I know you lying you can't even look in my eye
And that's why all of these niggas be dying
You do the math, break down the science
And then you will know why I stay with this iron
If I call you my nigga you know you my nigga
I call you at three in the morning it's time to go get 'em
Tell me the truth, what would you do?
Is you really willin'?
If they did me dirty, would you go and get 'em?
Is you in your feelings?, cause I'm really living
Fuck your opinion, I just want truth
No lying I won't tell the truth If I shoot
If I call you my nigga don't you ever fucking lie to me
Ain't no second guessing, they can never get as fly as me
I don't care how much you smoking, you can't get as high as me
It don't matter where I'm going, I'm gon' bring that pipe with me
'Cause talk is cheap I am a sight to see
I let her ride the D
She planning her life with me
I practice what I preach
And thou shall not be weak
You can lie them niggas and finesse dem hoes
But don't you ever fucking lie to me
If I call you my nigga don't you ever fucking lie to me
If I consider you a close friend, never deceive me
Ain't no second guessing, they can never get as fly as me
There's no doubt, no one can match my style
I don't care how much you smoking, you can't get as high as me
No matter how much you indulge, you can't reach my level
It don't matter where I'm going, I'm gon' bring that pipe with me
No matter where I go, I always carry my weapon
'Cause talk is cheap I am a sight to see
I back up my words with action, I am worth watching
I let her ride the D
I engage in sexual activities with her
She planning her life with me
She envisions a future with me
I practice what I preach
I follow and apply the principles I advocate
And thou shalt not be weak
You should not display weakness
You can lie them niggas and finesse dem hoes
You can deceive other men and manipulate women
But don't you ever fucking lie to me
But under no circumstances should you deceive me
