At Christmas-time it's hard but when you're having fun
Although it may be difficult, we should still remember to have fun during Christmas.

There's a world outside your window
We should not forget that there are people around the world who are suffering.

And it's a world of dread and fear
The world outside may be full of fear and sadness.

Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears
In some places, the only water available is tears due to poverty and hardship.

And the Christmas-bells that ring
The Christmas bells symbolize the happiness and joy the season brings.

There are the clanging chimes of door
But for those who are suffering, the bells may not bring comfort and instead remind them of their struggle.
