As a young musician I loved the quintet form and Brahms was the pinnacle. I owned this recording on cassette tape and then CD. The darkness of Herr Leister's sound fits this piece better than any other. To this day I still feel that he brings the true nature of this work out, without fanfare, just letting the notes do the work.

Brahms Clarinet Quintet is #11 on a list of best 100 classical chamber works. It is #91 on best classical works over-all. Millions of people are so glad he decided to continue to compose.

@ronenr1405

In my opinion it has to be VERY FIRST on this list

Classical audience: gets pissed if someone claps between movements.
YouTube: sticks ads between them

@josefeisinger103

Essential Johannes Brahms! They understood him.
