Karyn is a nine-time marathon runner, who is also the author of the highly-acclaimed book The Takeaway (HCI 2009) that she co-wrote with her dad. Inpop recording artist Karyn Williams wowed audiences with her rendering of the national anthem at the recent NBA Rising Stars Game 2012. Williams, who just released single “Rest In The Hope” from her Only You album, scheduled for a August 2012 release, was the only Contemporary Christian artist to perform during the NBA All Star Weekend.
One of the most highly anticipated new artists of 2012, Inpop Records’ Karyn Williams, took center stage recently during the NBA All Star Weekend in Orlando, FL. Besides singing the national anthem at the Rising Stars game on Friday, February 24th, Karyn also performed at the Athletes In Action breakfast on Saturday and at the NBA All Star Chapel on Sunday morning. At the breakfast on Saturday, Karyn’s father, Pat Williams, Senior Vice President and founder of the Orlando Magic, received the Jerry Colangelo Award. He was honored for his creativity and ingenuity that turned a Central Florida pro sports dream into the reality of Orlando Magic basketball, reaching into the homes of NBA fans throughout the country.
Before receiving his award, Pat was honored with special music from his daughter, which included a song Karyn wrote especially for him, Taking You With Me. It was a surprise for Pat Williams and garnered a standing ovation from the audience.
