While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
#2
He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me,
Within my heart is ringing.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
#3
I'd stay in the garden with Him,
Tho' the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go, thro' the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
Katy Kinard's "In the Garden" is a poignant Christian hymn that speaks of the deep bond between a person and God. The lyrics bring to mind a serene garden setting that is quiet, peaceful and tranquil. The singer describes their personal experience in the garden, stating that they come alone when the dew is still on the roses. They hear the voice of God falling on their ear, and the Son of God discloses. As they tarry in the garden, they experience a joy that is beyond what anyone else has ever known, as they walk and talk with God.
The second stanza continues with the theme of the first. The singer claims that when God speaks, the birds hush their singing, and the melody that He gives them echoes in their hearts. The joy they feel is tangible as they walk and talk with Him, and it is a joy that is unique in its nature, one that none other has ever experienced. The singer wishes to stay in the garden with God forever, even if the night is falling around them. However, they know that God is calling them to go forth and fulfill their destiny, even though it may be painful.
Overall, Katy Kinard's "In the Garden" is a beautiful hymn that speaks of the deep connection between humans and God. The garden setting provides a tranquil backdrop that adds to the overall peacefulness of the song. The lyrics offer a sense of intimacy with God, describing Him as a friend and confidant who walks and talks with the singer, offering them comfort and solace during difficult times.
