All the Way
Kelli O'Hara Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's no good unless he loves you, all the way
Happy to be near you
When you need someone to cheer you, all the way
Taller than the tallest tree is
That's how it's got to feel
Deeper than the deep blue see is
When somebody needs you
It's no good unless he needs you, all the way
Through the good or lean years
And for all the in between years, come what may
Who know where the road will lead us
Only a fool would say
But if you'll let me love you
It's for sure I'm gonna love you, all the way
All the way
The song "All the Way" by Kelli O'Hara is a beautiful ballad about the depth and longevity of true love. The opening line states that when somebody loves you, it's not enough unless they love you all the way. The singer emphasizes the importance of a love that is there for you not only in happy moments but also when you need support, someone to cheer you up.
The next lines compare the intensity of this love to the immensity of natural wonders such as tall trees and deep seas. The song uses imagery to convey the idea that real love should run deep and be all-encompassing, simulating the vastness of the natural world.
The final verse acknowledges that life is unpredictable and sometimes scary, but if the person they love allows them to love them back, they will do it without hesitation, all the way. The song emphasizes the idea of "come what may," indicating that the love is steadfast and unwavering, ready to take on anything together. In short, the song is a romantic ode to commitment and lifelong love.
