I
Kelly Hogan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's the very first day since you left me
And I tried to put my thoughts in a song
But all I can hear myself singin' is
I still can't believe you're gone
I still can't believe that you'd really leave me
What did I do was so wrong
There's just too many unanswered questions
And I still can't believe you're gone
But you're gone
And I'm alone
And I'm still livin'
I don't like it
But I'll take it till I'm strong
All I can hear myself singin' is
I still can't believe you're gone
[ guitar ]
You're gone
And I'm alone
And I'm still livin'
I don't like it
But I'll take it till I'm strong

All I can hear myself singin' is
I still can't believe you're gone

Overall Meaning

In the song "I Still Can't Believe You're Gone" by Kelly Hogan, she expresses her disbelief and pain after a recent breakup. She struggles to capture her emotions and put them into a song, but all she can sing about is the fact that she still cannot believe that her partner has left her. She questions what she did wrong and is left with many unanswered questions. The repetition of the line "I still can't believe you're gone" highlights the shock and sadness she feels.

Throughout the song, Hogan acknowledges that she is now alone and must learn to live without her partner. Even though she does not like the situation, she knows she must be strong and try to move on. The guitar solo in the middle of the song provides a mournful and reflective ambiance.

The song's simple lyrics and melody capture the universal feeling of heartbreak and the struggle to find closure after a relationship ends. Hogan's honest portrayal of her emotions make it a relatable ballad for anyone who has experienced a breakup.

OMG! I'm Ottis!! I have been round and round the hamster wheel with this question throughout my entire 8 year journey on Carnivore. The only real weight loss I have experienced has been very Very VERY slow.

Backstory
Much like Ottis, I am a rescue dog - Born violently allergic to milk - breast, cow, formula, all things baby diet was a recipe for extended stays at the children's hospital. Born 8lb 4oz but soon found my way down to 4lbs. I was born into a life of starvation. To this day I cannot get enough food. I have no off button with carbs- pasta, rice, etc. Animal products? Only physical discomfort can dissuade me. I was fed a slurry of MAZOLLA OIL (yes they prescribed it by name), beef, rice OR wheat, AND SUGAR! Overweight as long as I can remember. My brothers would be greeted with how's hockey? How's school? I got OMG you're getting fat! Ahh memories. (See self loathing below)

Symptoms
Patient presents with the following:
*Morbid obesity - only one in my fam.
*Severe Carb addiction - in the absence of carbs, alcohol cravings rise
*Volume addiction. I crave that feeling of a FEAST
*Depression. Undiagnosed
*Self loathing
*Stress & Anxiety
*Anger Issues
*Cortisol addiction
*Sleep apnea. CPAP
*Insomnia. 2-4 hours
*Chronic perspiration, arthritic knee, lower back pain, skin tags, dandruff, allergies. All significantly improved while eating carnivore, and yet I still struggle to stay on track. Slow results have left me listless in my resolve.

Environment:
House full of carbs. Zero support from family or friends. (Zero = trying to undermine me as proof that this woe is wrong. That was they can still eat carbs without feeling guilty or acknowledging that perhaps it's their diet that has caused their own ailments: T2D, Morbid obesity, severe inflammation, stroke, high blood pressure, joint pain, trigeminal neuralgia, HBP, etc. )

DIAGNOSIS: Acute Ottis-a-litis
I could never discern between the conflicting messages:
Eat all you want

Eat all you can
Eat less for weight loss
Eat 80%+ fat
Eat less fat - force your body to burn your own fat
Eat high protein to heal your body
Eat moderate protein to restrict insulin
Eat OMAD or OMETD
Eat often to flood your body with nutrients and remove any sense of restriction

CLEAR AS OTTIS POOP!

Thank you Kelly so much for your videos. They are truly helpful, meaningful, and relatable (That was in no way sarcastic and meant to be very sincere)

@PannieHomelife-carnivore

It seems to me that you are a beautiful one of a kind special individual who has had a rough start in life that determined the rest of your life. But I believe that if you keep going you will get the right answers and the way that works for you. Like this fantastic video for instance.

I have the luxury of living alone and withdrawing myself from social gatherings whilst in the middle of figuring out what works for me. Had no idea I would ever say this, but I am an undereater on Carnivore. So from today on upping my fat intake and see how that goes. But when I look at the list of symptoms that have gone away already, I feel so much better and weightloss isn't number one priority, its about healing.

Take care and don't let them bully you, one day you will figure it out and they will all be asking for your advice and guidance.

lots of love and the Carnivore community has your back!

look into a parasite cleanse! Vets know that if a pet is overeating or under eating (gaining weight or under weight they have parasites. These parasites can be visible in the bell (aka worms) or microscopic parasites (not visible to the eye).

for parasite info see channels Dr Berg, dr group, dr axe, brenda watson road to perfect health, candida eric bakker naturopath (his old chan name but, this will get you to his chan), Dr Ken berry etc.

parasites are huge issues with humans & pets.

library will have books on this.

local health food store will have the herbs to take. there are different protocals such as 10 days on parasite cleanse herbs then 5-7 days off then 10 on etc for 90 days. Why 90 days? because herbs & Rx for parasites dont kill the eggs so you have to do a cleanse for 90 days to kill off all the parasites. The whole family including pets should do a cleanse.

also look into opening up your lymph pathways and heavy metal detox. Fro opening up your pathyway see channel Dr Mindy pelz and her vids on heavy metals. for heavy metals see chan dr group, dr axe, candida eric bakker naturopath (also see his vids on SIBO, candida, h pylori, gut issues)

seriously look into these. It might be that you picked up a bad bacteria/virus/parasites when you were in your mothers belly or at the hospital that is still causing you health issues.

take care.

@terrileist

I am going to leave this nugget here…

I was carnivore and in the main carnivore community for 22 months (oct 2019-July 2021) and lost 64lbs yayyyy. The last 7 months of those 22 months I had stalled-boooo.

I will also add that I am a bulk eater who has an addiction to feeling full.

Everyone in the carnivore community in 2021 preached ‘eat when hungry, stop when full’. I was in all the big groups-zeroing in on health, zero carb, and a few others.

Anytime I mentioned my stall people would say it takes time it takes time keep eating, and again the mantra-eat when hungry, stop when full.

I left carnivore to start counting calories along with eating keto, and was able to lose the rest of my weight.

I’ve now lost 180 Lbs and have maintained that for over 1 year while eating low carb and watching my calorie intake.

This video makes me both happy and sad. Happy that those who are new to carnivore now are open to people eating less, and sad because when I needed to hear this, it wasn’t the trend so I had to leave for my weight health.

Regardless I’m thankful that you are discussing this very important topic.

@to-tx2sz

Thanks Kelly great video.

Calories of course matter

If you’re eating carnivore and losing weight great

If you’re not, tracking calories, even for just a short amount of time, can be a great tool

Great, simple message

@lynnetuckercarnivore

Here's my recipe and instructions:
My local grocery store & Costco.
4 ingredients

Hamburger - Costco 6.5 to 7 lb pack cut in half - one half per batch. I make 2 batches
Sardines in WATER - grocery store or Big Lots 4 cans (2 cans per batch)
Oysters in WATER - grocery store 1 can - 1/2 can per batch (I physically separate them in half by size to be equal after draining them)
Eggshells - dried and very finely ground.
2 medium size bowls
Food Processor
Cookie scoop
Rubber Spatula
Snack or Sandwich sized zip bags (depends on if the amt your SMALL dog eats fits in that size) (50-55 per each 2 batch prep)
💥 MIX....
3 oz of beef or chicken hearts (chicken is waaaay easier - my husband grinds the beef heart f for me as I used to have to filet it as one dog is allergic to chicken)
3 oz of beef or calf liver
2 tsps of finely ground eggshells
1/2 can of oysters IN WATER
2 cans of sardines IN WATER
.... into the Food Processor and blend
💥 Add to first bowl
💥 Repeat
💥 Add to second bowl
💥 Add 1/2 of the hamburger meat broken up into pcs in first and other 1/2 into the other bowl
💥 Mix as you would for making meatloaf.
💥 Scoop two cookie scoops into each snack bags and zip closed after all bags are filled.
💥 Lay into box that works for your freezer size and can handle 50-55 bags. I use a New Balance shoe bag.
💥 Put in freezer and take out bags of meals to the the day before you need to use them.
💥 I even put a 1 cup pyrex measuring cup of water in the microwave for 45 secs them put the two snack bags in them for a bit to warm the patties up before putting into their metal food bowls.
💥 Wash bowls after every meal.

My dogs are 12 - 15 lbs.
I use 2 cookie scoops per snack sized bags and get about 50-52 bags filled in total from the 2 batch prep.
It takes me approximately 1 to 1.5 hrs on a day before trash day. Once every other week.
Set up a small plastic grocery bag where you prep to immediately put trash in after use (i.e. sardine & oyster cans and paper towels used).
I use the cabinet above my work area to hang one handle of the bag between the two joining cabinet pulls.
Always wipe down your countertops with antibacterial spray.
I even pick a clean paper towel off to open the dishwasher handle with, to put rinsed off Food Processor parts into for cleaning after I'm done.

So much truth here!! Kelly nails it again 🔨💥 While there are many individuals who need bloodwork, hormone or gut testing to find their “mystery” answers for results, this absolutely what I’ve experienced after working with thousands of clients over the last 16 years!

@Back2SquareOne

Yup, I love Kelly's no BS, practical, actionable, real-world advice. It is so helpful to get the viewpoint of someone who has already walked the path before me.

@lynettegayle-turpin6202

So freaking smart, no wonder you’re a teacher, you are very, very very good at it. Thank you for being you.

@myzerocarblife

Thank you so much, Lynette! ❤️

@melissaandrews1603

I’m an Otis. I track my intake. I prioritize protein, shooting for 130 grams per day. Adding fat when needed. Taking in about 1800 calories per day. My go to plain meal is eggs. Just eggs cooked in butter. After an event/ social gathering I reset with eggs.
Thank you for taking the time to share with us. I, for one, greatly appreciate it. ❤️❤️🙏🙏

@PondersomeIndeed

I like the idea of resetting with eggs. Thanks for the info!

@carnivorepadawan

How many eggs will you eat per day?

@mikab.4041

I do this as well!! It's great for the reset after I.F. After going Carnivore.. I don't count calories..

@squeekytoys5911

@@carnivorepadawanI eat 8 to 9 eggs a day.

@stanrobertson

I count grams of protein, because I have Type 1 diabetes, so I have to calculate my insulin doses. I also take enough fat to balance the meat, but just make sure I get a lot, and my digestion tells me if it is too much.
