Kiss and Tell
Kevin Clay Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She's got a dirty mind. I've got flies on th
a double life without a single flaw. Covered with
honey, smothered in blood, while she was married, buried in the mud. I don't
know where I'm going to. But you don't know where I've been. She don't care
what I'm going through. But you don't know where I've been. She's got a guilty
smile. I've got a hunch or two. I'll never know her like the flies on the
wall. Like a feather, it gently fell. Like Heather, they kiss and tell. I
don't know where I'm going to. But you don't know where I've been. She don't
care what I'm going through. But you don't know where I've been.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Kevin Clay's song Kiss And Tell narrate the story of a complicated love affair. The singer is involved with a woman who possesses a "dirty mind," and the two seem to be leading a "double life without a single flaw." However, things take a dark turn when he describes her as "covered with honey, smothered in blood, while she was married, buried in the mud." It's unclear whether this is describing a literal death or whether it's a metaphorical representation of the situation they're in. The repetition in the chorus emphasizes the singer's confusion and lack of direction, where he doesn't know where he's going but also feels nobody knows where he's been.

The lyrics also suggest that the singer is aware of the implications of his actions as he remarks "She don't care what I'm going through," implying that the woman has no regard for the effect their relationship is having on him. Despite this, he admits that he will never know her completely and that she is skilled in keeping her secrets hidden.

Overall, the song's lyrics are striking in their enigmatic nature. They seem to hint at a story that is much darker than what has been explicitly stated. The repeated refrain of "But you don't know where I've been" highlights the singer's inner turmoil and sense of loneliness.

I love it! "Well, my Mom cried- for exactly ten seconds, my boss said, "who cares?" and my Dad said "but you're so TALL..." " LOL :)

but WHAT DID SPARKY THINK

Kevin Muller

Perfect responses..a mother would cry, a hard nosed boss wouldn't care, and his father, who was probably an old.school.dude, wanted to justify his shock with something so stupid about hai height. The fathers response, and the way selleck says it, still is funny 22 years later.

I watched this in the theaters. And this scene had such a huge reaction. It started off “oh, ooohhh,” then went oooooaaaahhhhhoooooo!!!! To HAHAHAHAHA!!!” Non stop laughter. Nobody expected the kiss to last that long. Followed buy the leg lift!? People went crazy! Good times. 😂🤣😌
