Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Sheard spent her formative years surrounded by the strong influences of her family, their faith, and their music.[1] At age 6, she began singing in the choir at Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ, pastored by her father Superintendent J. Drew Sheard. Even at a young age, Sheard had a preternatural grip on the signature "Clark sound" pioneered by her mother and aunts, executing high and fast melismas, riffs, runs, and deep, throaty growls sometimes referred to as "squalls" (the latter is prominently displayed on "Done Did It", a traditional gospel leaning track from her album I Owe You)

Hot, fire, let's go!)
I did it all for the first time
Made a mistake but I earned mine
I broke it on a one time
But I did it all my way
I′m over the pain
If I'm dancing when I wanna
(Please don't judge me)
If I′m smiling when I′m under
(Please don't judge me)
I just run through the fire
Please don′t judge me
(Please don't judge me)
I′m just walking the wire
Please don't judge me
(Please don′t judge me)
I don't know if you have noticed
I'm doing me and I love it
I just run through the fire
Please don′t judge me
(Please don′t judge me)
If you don't give me your hand now
I′ll do it all by myself then
I just run through the fire
Please don't judge me
(Please don′t judge me)
(Help me sing now)
Lala, lalala (oh)
Lala, lala
(Help me sing now)
Lala, lalala (oh)
Please don't judge me
(Help me sing now)
Lala, lalala (oh)
Lala, lala
(Help me sing now)
Lala, lalala (oh)
Please don′t judge me
Please don't judge me by the clothes I wear
Please don't judge me by the songs I sing
Please don′t judge me by the way that I′m dancing
You know God the only one can judge me
You know that I'm feeling so free
I be chilling, I′m just doing me
We turned up and we killing this beat
Go ahead and get on your feet
If I'm dancing when I wanna
(Please don′t judge me)
If I'm smiling when I′m under
(Please don't judge me)
I just run through the fire

(Please don′t judge me)

The song Don't Judge Me by Kierra Sheard talks about her journey of making mistakes and learning from them. The opening lines “I did it all for the first time, made a mistake but I earned mine” mean that Sheard is not afraid to make mistakes and take risks because it is part of her journey in life. The chorus of the song reiterates this point and asks people not to judge her for it. Sheard goes on to explain that she is comfortable in her skin and is living her life on her own terms. She emphasises this point in the lines “Please don’t judge me by the clothes I wear, by the songs I sing, by the way that I'm dancing, you know God is the only one that can judge me.”
The lyrics of Don’t Judge Me emphasise the importance of self-love, acceptance, and the need for people to live their lives on their own terms. The song also speaks about the importance of not judging people because they have different lifestyles, preferences, or personalities. As the chorus repeats, “I don’t know if you have noticed, I’m doing me and I love it. If you don’t give me your hand now, I'll do it all by myself then. I just run through the fire please don’t judge me.”

@Pumpkin_Ratatata
a1000facesWorldWide same 😌
@ShmaAdonaiEhad
This is not Christian music.
@a1000facesWorldWide
Oh ok, what genre of music does it fall under?
@ShmaAdonaiEhad
@a1000facesWorldWide Yes, Well I am not a music expert but to me it sounds like regular secular pop/funk music.I would not call this gospel or christian as it lacks the spiritual foundation and doctrine. I hope that clarifies it.

@alenawildner
she's just being herself in that video, sooo authentic
@bolongiekofo1920
If "being myself" means looking like everything but a consecrated and holy disciple of Christ in front of the world then I freely turn my back on "authenticity". I prefer being led by the Holy Spirit and being careful with how I behave in front of those I'm supposed to preach the Holy kingdom of God to rather than acting unwisely and not leading by example. And I say this humbly. I love sister Kierra, but this is not right. I prayed for her after seeing this and I will again. May God help us....me first.
@alenawildner
bolongi ekofo you do know that authenticity depends on the person and is individual right? or would you rather have her lying and pretending to be religious ?
@deshawngoncalves6734
bolongi ekofo you a fool 🤦🏾♂️
