The group formed in 1978 under the name Kleenex, and soon made a name for themselves, until the threat of legal action by Kimberly-Clark in 1979 prompted a change of name to LiLiPUT (Kleenex being a propietry brand of tampons in Switzerland). Their initial line-up was consisted of Regula Sing (vocals), Marlene Marder (guitar), Klaudia Schiff (bass) and Lislot Ha (drums), and in the late 1970s the band recorded a number of successful singles prior to Sing’s departure. In 1982, after playing together for four years, LiLiPUT released their first self-titled full-length LP on Rough Trade.
In 2001, Kill Rock Stars released a 46-track double-disc CD spanning five years of LiLiPUT’s recordings, starting in 1978 when they were still under the name of Kleenex.

Hey madness what do you want from me
Hey madness I, I will be free
Hey madness I, I need you so
Hey madness what do you want from me
Hey madness I, I will be free
Hey madness
Give it to me
Hey madness you have touched me
Hey madness what do you want from me
Hey madness I, I will be free
Hey madness I, I need you so
Hey madness why you have touched me

The lyrics of the song "Madness" by Kleenex can be interpreted in different ways, as the meaning is not entirely clear. At first glance, it appears to be about someone wrestling with their madness and trying to be free from its grip. The repeated line "Hey madness you have touched me" suggests that the person has been affected by a mental illness, and they are addressing it like a separate entity. The line "Hey madness what do you want from me" implies a conversation between the person and their disorder, as if they are trying to reason with it.
In the chorus, the singer repeats that they will be free, perhaps indicating that they are trying to find a way out of their struggle. However, the line "Hey madness I, I need you so" contradicts this idea and suggests that the person has some sort of attachment to their madness. The lyrics "Hey madness why you have touched me" can also be interpreted as the person questioning how they became affected by mental illness in the first place.
Overall, the song captures the complex emotions and inner turmoil of someone who is struggling with mental illness. Whether the person is trying to overcome it or learn to live with it is left open to interpretation.
