Verhaeghen has been involved in several projects outside The Klinik / Klinik, including Noise Unit (with Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber of Front Line Assembly), D.Sign / D-Sign (with Philippe and Eliane Fichot of Die Form), X10 (with Niki Mono, Marc Ickx of A Split-Second and Vidna Obmana), and Para (with his own wife Sabine Voss).
Original The Klinik were active between 1985-1990 (// 2003 // 2009-now). At first as quarter: Dirk Ivens (Absolute Body Control, Dive, Sonar, Blok 57), Marc Verhaeghen (X10, D-Sign, Noise Unit, Para), Eric van Wonterghem (Absolute Body Control, Insekt, Sonar, Monolith) and Sandy Nys (The Maniacs, Hybryds).
On first tour they called themself Absolute Controlled Clinical Maniacs, but this rather unwieldy name was soon dropped in favour of the shorter name The Klinik. Nys soon left the band to form Hybryds, followed in 1987 by van Wonterghem, leaving The Klinik as the "classic" duo of Dirk Ivens and Marc Verhaeghen... until 90~91...

Into my vains
Like a wire
Stuck in my brain
Like a fire
Drives me insane
In different ways
At different times
It talks to me
Desire
Look through the desert of my life
Look through the desert of my mind
The song "Desire" by Klinik is all about the intensity of desire and how it can take hold of a person. The opening lines, "Feel the blood, into my veins, like a wire, stuck in my brain," describe the overwhelming sensation that desire can bring. It's a feeling that can take over a person's entire being, leaving them consumed by want and need. The mention of fire driving the singer insane further emphasizes just how powerful and all-consuming desire can be.
The next lines, "In different ways, it comes to me, at different times, it talks to me," suggest that desire is not always straightforward or predictable. It can manifest in different ways and at different times, and it seems to have a mind of its own. The repetition of "desire" throughout the song hammers home the idea that this feeling is at the core of everything the singer is experiencing.
The final lines, "Look through the desert of my life, look through the desert of my mind," suggest that the singer is searching for something, and that desire is leading them on this quest. The desert imagery gives a sense of barrenness and emptiness, as if the singer is wandering aimlessly without direction, but still driven forward by their desire.
Overall, "Desire" is a powerful and intense song about the overwhelming nature of desire and how it can take hold of a person's entire being, driving them forward even when there is no clear path to follow.
