Born in Kisangani, Democratic Republic of Congo to a Congolese mother and Ghanaian father, Koffi grew up in Kinshasa.
He went to France to study, while in Paris, he began playing the guitar and writing songs. On his return to Congo he was a member of Viva la Musica, Papa Wemba's band. Koffi repopularized the slower style of soukous, which had fallen out of fashion. He dubbed this style Tcha Tcho, and it gained popularity outside Congo. Koffi's music can be quite controversial, taking on current events and topics considered taboo in some conservative societies. He has also participated in the salsa music project Africando.

Yo koki ko pimela zolo mosuni mais kasi solo te
Soki balingi yo te oza lokola moto aza likolo ya nzete
Suka sé a ko kita suka sé a ko kita eh king Georges
Soki ba lingui yo té oza lokola moto
A lambi loso na mabanga
Mbula to elanga... silencieux mawenguee
Na banzaki to ko nuna toko balana

Na ko suka wapi na kimobange lokola okeyi
Bolingo na ngai ata muana a bengi akondima papa

The song "Aubergine" by Koffi Olomidé is in Lingala, and the title refers to the French word for "eggplant." The lyrics tell a story of a man who is in love with a woman and compares her to an eggplant. He says that his love for her is strong and enduring, symbolized by the eggplant. He also talks about their relationship and how he wants to take care of her like a father cares for his child. The song has a playful and romantic tone, and the use of the eggplant as a symbol adds a unique element to the lyrics.
One interesting aspect of the song is the use of the eggplant as a symbol of love. In recent years, the eggplant emoji has become a shorthand for sexual content, but in this song, it is used in a more innocent and romantic way. The lyrics also mention a newborn baby and the care that a mother takes to nurse and raise it. This adds another layer of depth to the song's themes of love and caretaking.
