Konrad 2: Konrad is the American song constructionist "Jeffrey Konrad" who puzzles together his unique brand of vocal poetics with a sorted sonic DNA that exhibits strains of indie and electro. In the past he’s recorded as an 8-bit obsessed electronica musician known as "Robot Usa" as well as a folksy singer-songwriter called "Nigel Jeffrey" who cut an album called "Struggle in the Hive" released on "Future Appletree Records."
In 2004, 2005 and 2006 Konrad appeared on numerous compilation albums for Radical Turf Records and Deep Elm Records. Those titles include "Tales from the Oxygen Den," "First Disguised as Last," "Hello Future?" and "Deep Elm :This is Indie Rock vol. 3."
In August 2008 Konrad released his album "Loose Canyons"; a seeming amalgamation of all his past and present musical personalities all mashed into one meticulously produced package that combines the old school synth sounds of Devo, the ironic b-boy style of Dan Deacon and the sardonic wit of Hot Chip. The album made it's debut on the CMJ Top 200 Charts and was an immediate radio and critical success.

I'm Only Sleeping
Konrad Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Lift my head, I'm still yawning
When I'm in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream (Float up stream)
Please, don't wake me, no, don't shake me
Leave me where I am, I'm only sleeping
I don't mind, I think they're crazy
Running everywhere at such a speed
Till they find there's no need (There's no need)
Please, don't spoil my day, I'm miles away
And after all I'm only sleeping
Keeping an eye on the world going by my window
Taking my time
Lying there and staring at the ceiling
Waiting for a sleepy feeling...
Please, don't spoil my day, I'm miles away
And after all I'm only sleeping
Ooh yeah
Keeping an eye on the world going by my window
Taking my time
When I wake up early in the morning
Lift my head, I'm still yawning
When I'm in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream (Float up stream)
Please, don't wake me, no, don't shake me
Leave me where I am, I'm only sleeping
The song "I'm Only Sleeping" by Konrad is about the desire to slow down and take a break from the fast-paced, hectic nature of everyday life. The lyrics describe the singer's reluctance to get out of bed in the morning, preferring to stay in a dreamlike state and float upstream rather than face the world. The repetition of the refrain "Please, don't wake me, no, don't shake me, Leave me where I am, I'm only sleeping" emphasizes the singer's need for rest and relaxation.
The second verse addresses the assumption that the singer is lazy, but they don't mind it as they believe that the people who think that are crazy. The verses reflect an introspective mood, as the singer lies in bed and observes the world going by outside their window, taking their time and waiting for a sleepy feeling.
Overall, "I'm Only Sleeping" is a reflection on the importance of taking breaks and slowing down in the face of constant pressure to keep moving forward. It encourages listeners to take a step back and savor the moment, rather than always pushing ahead to the next thing.
