X Communicate
Kristin Kontrol Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've been waiting so long with the ghost of our love
She's as impressive as she is inspired
We're ships in the night, we are hooks beating by
We are etchings of all that's transpired

Do I still possess you?
Forever and ever amen
Under the sheets I hide
A terrible mess inside
Between the whites of my eyes
I hold the highs and lows of your life

Should we X-communicate our love?
Or should we wait?
Should we X-communicate our love?
Or should we wait?

Forever and ever amen

Just when I think that you have had enough
Your embrace must be ice for my tongue
What do we call this? What's another name?
For surrender we're coming undone

Do I still possess you?
Forever and ever amen
Under the sheets I hide
A terrible mess inside
Between the whites of my eyes
I hold the highs and lows of your life

Should we x-communicate our love?
Or should we wait?
Should we x-communicate our love?
Or should we wait?

Forever and ever amen

(Do I still possess you?)
(Do I still possess you?)
And I'm so tired, so tired
So tired, so tired
Yes I'm so tired, so tired
Of this life

Should we x-communicate our love?
Or should we wait?

Should we x-communicate our love?
or should we wait?

Should we x-communicate our love?
or should we wait?

Should we x-communicate our love?
or should we wait?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Kristin Kontrol's "X-Communicate" explore the question of whether it's time to let go of a past love or hold on to it. The opening lines, "I've been waiting so long with the ghost of our love / She's as impressive as she is inspired," set the tone for the entire song. The idea of a "ghost" suggests a haunting feeling of longing for something that is no longer present, but still holds power over the singer. The second line, however, complicates this image by adding a layer of admiration to it. The ghost is impressive, even inspired, which suggests that the singer may be nostalgic for something that was once great.

The rest of the song's lyrics expand on this idea, using nautical metaphors to describe the singer and their past love as "ships in the night" and "hooks beating by." They are etchings of all that's transpired, which could mean that they are both marked by their shared history. The repeated phrase "forever and ever amen" may suggest a sense of resignation, as if the singer knows that the past cannot be changed and that they will always be haunted by it.

It's like 80's synthpop and I love it

Definitely digging this. I definitely love electro, and looking forward to hearing more of Kristin aka Dee Dee's take on the electro sound.

I was really impressed with Dee Dee on DDG and I'm still impressed in her new musical direction as well. A lot of people won't be able to understand that, but from someone who plays/ writes/ produces music... you really just don't want to be tied to one genre, you can like all these different kinds of music and you want to apply it to your own. Bravo Dee Dee/ Kristin, can't wait to hear the album!

DOOM GENERATION

You are right about all that and I agree. The problem with the Kristin Kontrol project though is that it's not really good. I see and understand what she's trying to do/aim for, but it's lacking what many other projects of this genre have: soul, depth, originality. There have been and are many who pulled /pull this genre off majestically, but sadly KK doesn't and thus is just one of many who try too hard. It all seems way too forced, same with her artist name. All this extreme change, in style and everything, even in how she dresses, makes it all come across as quite fake and it's super hard to take it seriously. It's like when I'd make hardcore, dress accordingly, and 2 years later suddenly made chanson and put on Yeah-Yeah-60s dresses like France Gall.
And well, I'm one of the people who are highly interested in the genre that KK tries to pull off here, but I'm sorry, I'm disappointed and expected something really amazing. Compared to DDG it is just weak, and that has nothing to do with the genre but just with the whole output itself.

I just discovered Kristin because this song plays on the Mood Media music track at a hotel our company manages. I had to Shazam it right away. This is a sexy electro sound that is a true masterpiece. Congratulations Kristin! You NAILED it! I listen to this song over and over!

I'm am drunk on this song! I'm loving it so much and i can't get enough of her lovely vocals! This song has a gorgeous 80's vibe and electro beat. Definitely a summer kickoff song! There needs to be a video!

i really loved dum dum girls and its take on pop, taking its inspiration from the 60s jangle pop and female groups. Now, Kristin is taking my favorite era on pop: 80s glitzery disco! I couldn't ask for anything better! Hope she's happy with the change and I bet this album will be full of hooks and danceable beats!

Laura Isabella

It sounds like a mix between several 80s new wave, hi-nrg/italo disco divas + Kylie Minogue and New Order all mixed together. It just sounds glorious! ✨❤️✨🎶✨

yes, so new wave

TrueFaith94

That homage to Peter Hook's signature New Order bass at the end, YES
