Three days that I hate to be alive
Three days filled with tears and sorrow
Yesterday, today, and tomorrow
There are three days I know I will be blue
Three days I'll dream of you
And it does no good to wish these days to end
Three days that I dread to see arrive
Three days that I hate to be alive
Three days filled with tears and sorrow
Yesterday, today, and tomorrow
The song "Three Days" by Jean Sibelius is a somber expression of painful emotions that the singer is experiencing. The lyrics are straightforward and mention the three days that the singer dreads to see arrive and hates to be alive for. These three days are filled with tears and sorrow, and they happen to be yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The singer cannot help but dream of their loved one during these three days, and it does no good to wish these days to end because the same three days start over again.
The song seems to be about the cyclical nature of grief and the overwhelming feeling of sadness that one can experience after losing a loved one. The mention of the same three days starting over again suggests that the singer is stuck in a never-ending cycle of mourning.
Overall, "Three Days" by Jean Sibelius is a powerful and emotional song that captures the pain and sadness of loss.

This is a great intrepretation (and recording) of this most wonderful work which Sibelius, mysteriously, had withdrawn from public performance soon after it's premiere and it was only restored in recent decades. It may be an early work with flaws but it's still light years ahead of many other works by well established composers.
