To me the bright buildings are empty shells
From my perspective, the impressive buildings lack substance or genuine meaning.

The stress and tension are increasing, much like the peaks of a mountain range.

No wonder I’m uneasy; everything is change

There is excessive noise that makes it difficult to find restful sleep.

I find solace or escape by consuming alcohol purchased at CVS pharmacy.

On Sunset Boulevard, you can see washed-up or less relevant celebrities.

From the ocean you can see Mt. Baldy white with snow
If you look towards the ocean, you can catch a glimpse of Mt. Baldy covered in snow.

I might call this heaven if it wasn’t for all the lost souls
If it were not for the numerous individuals feeling lost and disconnected, I might consider this place heaven-like.

City of Angels don’t care for your dreams
The city does not prioritize or show concern for your aspirations.

City of Angels can sure be mean
The city can be harsh, unforgiving, and cruel at times.

But on a good day when I have faith
However, on a positive day when I maintain faith and optimism,

I know what I need don’t come from this place
I understand that what I truly need in life cannot be obtained solely from this city.

And I tell this city get out of my way
I firmly assert my desire for the city to step aside and not hinder my progress.

I say to those angels you can’t make me stay
I express my refusal to be bound or compelled to remain by the influence of those perceived as angels.
