Ballad
L.leviny.gershovskiym.hallj.ascione Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A ray of light
Star shines down
Burning bright
Without a sound
The queen of angels
Take your crown
Yeah, shine on
You fly so high
Don't ever come down
Shine on
And every moment
Slips away
Doing my best trying to
Keep away
An innocence lost
The queen of sound
In the cold morning frost
We lay you gently down
Down, down, yeah
Shine on
And all the things you wished you'd said
Echoing inside your head
I cannot live I cannot die
Nothing left to do but try
I'm falling underneath your spell
Lift you up from your own hell
Numb yourself now from the pain
Wandering out in the rain
You fly so high
Don't ever come down
Queen of angels
Take your crown
An innocence lost
The queen of sound
In the cold morning frost
We lay you gently down
You fly so high
Don't ever come down

In the cold morning frost
We lay you gently down

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to L.Leviny.Gershovskiym.Hallj.Ascione's song Ballad are deeply touching and emotive in their portrayal of a queen of angels who shines like a star but ultimately comes to her untimely demise. The first verse talks about the queen of angels shining as bright as a burning star but without making any sound. She takes her crown as she flies so high and the singer who is singing the song tells her to shine on and to never come down.

The second verse talks about the loss of innocence and how time seems to slip away as people try to do their best to prevent it. The queen of sound is described as someone who was lost to the cold morning frost and was laid gently down. The lyrics in the chorus are repeated as the singer sets out to underscore how the queen flew so high that there was no way that she would ever come down. The people around her, the singer included, exalt her as the queen of angels and tell her to take her crown.

The third stanza sees the singer delving into the realm of reflection, wondering about all those things that were left unsaid and echoing around like voices in the mind. The singer feels somewhat powerless but tries to lift the queen up from her own personal hell, and numb her pain from the world. The final verse of the song talks about the queen flying high and never returning, while also talking about her demise in the morning frost where she was laid down, gently.

@HiHiHiHiHiHi.

Suzanne Collins really dropped a series that shaped a whole generation, disappeared, and appears again with another hit. This woman is like the equivalent of Adele.
