LIVING ROOM - BROCKHAMPTON Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In the heat of the summer, oh
Yeah, yeah, mhm
You know that you should be my boy
Oh yes, you know
In the heat of the summer
You're so different from the rest
You know, you know, you know, oh oh
You know that you should be my boy
Oh yes, you do
In the heat of the summer
You're so different from the rest
You know, you know, you know
Yeah ooh, ooh ooh

You know that you should be my boy
Ooh, yeah yeah
In the heat of the summer
You're so different from the rest
You know, you know, you know, oh oh
You know that you should be my boy
Oh, yes, you know, oh yes, you know
In the heat of the summer

You're so different from the rest
You know, you know, you know

@Esther Chung  I've been there before a few times, in front of a much smaller crowd than a festival, but still enough to get your nerves going... It's a mix of many emotions, but most of all it's exhilarating, scary, and the most exciting/fun thing ever.

It's like what I imagine adrenaline junkies get out of crazy extreme sports. The best part is when you forget the crowd is there, close your eyes a little, and just feel the music and your audience all intertwined at once in this beautiful moment of human experience.

I really miss it. I haven't been in a full blown band since I was 18, 24 now. I've done a few solo vocal performances here and there since then, most were karaoke, but with a live band at a bar that musicians frequent. It's different from going up and singing over a crappy midi to a trailer trash crowd that doesn't know or care about the radiohead song you're singing to the best of your ability and would rather hear Sweet Child of Mine (not that that's bad, I'm down for some rowdy, shitty, drunken karaoke too, that's a blast). Live band karaoke, at the right bar, is like renting a band for a performance basically, because if you know your shit, you can coordinate with them and do stuff like ask the bassist doing the vocal harmonies to sing the lows so you can take the high part, and they add to the legitimacy of it being a musical cover performance, not just a bar activity.

I honestly want to make a living and life out of it (music creation and performance, not karaoke lol)
Sharing music and performing and creating music are such incredible, visceral experiences for me. I've really been letting myself slip into the sad lifestyle of working full time at a grocery store and hating every hour of it, just to pay bills. At 24, that just doesn't feel right.

I don't expect to ever get to where Brockhampton or Bearface are, but they are and always have been a huge inspiration for me, being musicians about my age that started from scratch and made it by just pouring their souls into their music.
