Hey
Ho
Hey
(Ho) I been trying to do it right
(Hey) I been living a lonely life
(Ho) I been sleepin' here instead
(Ho) I been sleepin' in my bed (hey ho)
(Ho) so show me family
(Hey) all the blood that I will bleed
(Ho) I don't know where I belong
(Hey) I don't know where I went wrong
(Ho) but I can write a song (hey)
(Two, three, four) I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweet' (ho)
Hey (come on now)
Ho
Hey
(Ho) I don't think you're right for him
(Hey) think of what it might have been if we
(Ho) took a bus to chinatown
(Hey) I'd be standin' on canal (ho) and Bowery (hey)
(Ho) she'd be standin' next to me (hey)
(Two, three, four) I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart
Love we, need it now
Let's hope, for some
'Cause oh, we're bleedin' out
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweet'(ho)
Hey
Ho
Hey
The Lumineers’ song "Ho Hey" is a heartfelt ballad about love and belonging. The repetition of the phrases “ho” and “hey” throughout the song creates a chanting rhythm that is both catchy and engaging. The first verse tells a story of a person trying to do things right and live their life well, but feeling lonely and lost. The second verse expresses a lack of belonging and direction, followed by the declaration that they can write a song.
The chorus is the most memorable part of the song, with its repetitive lyrics “I belong with you, you belong with me, you’re my sweetheart.” These lyrics express the deep desire for connection and true love that the singer is yearning for. The bridge sings about the importance of love in the present and hope for the future. Finally, the last part of the song repeats the chorus, emphasizing the importance of love and identity.
Overall, “Ho Hey” is a beautifully crafted song that speaks to the universal human experience of longing for companionship and love. Its catchy rhythm and heartfelt lyrics have made it a beloved classic.

my older brother was in jail and he called
one day to ask me to play a song and he
requested this one,we sat in silence while I
put my speaker full blast and listened, after
he said it's a pretty dope song right and I
agreed , In 2019 he committed suicide and as
I sat in my room crying when I got the news I
remembered when he asked me to play this
for him, in my grief this song brought a bit
closer to my brother and after 2 years I still
come back to listen to this , RIP Shane
