Everybody's Talkin'
LUNA. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Everybody's talking at me
I don't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind

People stopping staring
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes
I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Thru' the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Backing off of the North East wind

Sailing on summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone

Overall Meaning

The song 'Everybody's talkin'' by LUNA, originally written and recorded by Fred Neil, is about feeling disconnected from the world around you and seeking a sense of freedom or escape. The lyrics talk about how the singer cannot hear or see what others are saying or doing, but is trapped in their own thoughts and memories.

The opening line, "Everybody's talking at me, I don't hear a word they're saying," refers to the noise and chatter of daily life that can drown out our own inner voices and desires. The line "Only the echoes of my mind" suggests that the singer is lost in their own thoughts and feelings, detached from the present moment.

The next line, "People stopping staring, I can't see their faces," conveys a sense of disorientation and detachment from others. The singer is unable to connect with those around them, seeing only "the shadows of their eyes" instead of their full expressions.

The following lines talk about the singer's desire to escape and find a place where they can be themselves. They want to go where the sun shines and the weather suits their clothes, suggesting a desire for warmth, comfort, and freedom. The reference to "sailing on a summer breeze" and "skipping over the ocean like a stone" further reinforce this sense of escape and freedom.

yes, but no thanks for the 3 mins dead air at the end which makes it useless to rip.
