Come Back To Me
Les Friction Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do you hear me?

If I sing with Angels
Will you hear me?
If I sing with Angels
Will you cross the line?

I hear your voice but you're not here
I walk the halls and I'm alone
You're not coming home

I'm holding out til we're out of time
Would you pierce the veil
Would you cross the line
I can feel you here, souls redefined
I can't let go of our design

Come back to me

Overall Meaning

The song "Come Back to Me" by Les Friction is a hauntingly beautiful ballad about the longing for love and the grief of loss. The question, "Do you hear me?", is repeated throughout the song and suggests a communication breakdown between two individuals. The singer's desperation is palpable as they wonder if their loved one will hear the pain in their voice, even if they sing with Angels.

The next two lines, "If I sing with Angels, will you hear me? If I sing with Angels, will you cross the line?" could be interpreted as the singer pleading with their loved one to return to them, even if they must cross some kind of boundary or risk something to do so. The mention of walking alone and their loved one not coming home, further emphasizes the sense of loss and loneliness.

The chorus, "I'm holding out till we're out of time. Would you pierce the veil? Would you cross the line? I can feel you here, souls redefined. I can't let go of our design. Come back to me," conveys a message of hope and desire while acknowledging there is a time limit. The phrase "souls redefined" could indicate that the separation has caused a transformation in both individuals, and they are no longer the same people they were before.

Overall, "Come Back to Me" is a powerful song about the depth of love and the pain of loss. It is a universal theme that many people can relate to, and the haunting music only amplifies the emotions conveyed in the lyrics.

The thing is, if you listen to the instrumental version, you would think about it as an uplifting, powerful piece.
You would never know the passion, the cry of pain, the desperation, the sadness of the song.

It's hard to find really good, punch-you-right-in-the-feels music these days, but I guess that only makes it better when you find truly exceptional work like this.

I really liked how you put this at the end of your HoV series, ManiaMac. It really touched me and is a sort of epic music that one would use for your ending in the series.

Prepare your tissues: Think deeply about the lyrics and the the artist, Helmut, who unfortunately lost his brother Franz, a couple of years before this album released.

"I hear your voice but you're not here.....You're not coming home."
"I can feel you here.....I can't let go of our design."
"Come back to me!"

Truly, RIP Franz, and I wish the best for Helmut and Les Friction as a group, and look forward to the amazing music they give!

Oh my goodness that's sad. When you remember this is a tribute to his dead brother it's that much more sad, but beautiful as well.

@WarDragon989

The beginning sounds like it is in a cathedral at a sombre funeral remembering his brother, Emily starts but at 2:00 Helmut (represented by Paint singing) believes he needs to carry on the song believing it needs to be completed by him, he is spurred on by Franz in spirit form. The songs pick up and and the chorus and entire room sing the 3:25 bit. A light opens up and Franz leaves much to Helmut shock and screams "Come back to me" after a tearful moment he looks up and smiles. I cry everytime.

I remember reading about the meaning behind this song back in 2014. I had a childhood friend commit suicide a few weeks after I heard this song. The meaning behind this song combined with its lyrics and melody make it both powerful and at times painful to listen too. Truly a testament to the skill of Les Friction.
