Let's Go Home Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We used to say we wont get older
It'll be alright
We wait to change and then its over,
But itll be alright
All those years we used to know
All those dreams wont go

I wont let it go
Im taking control
I want you to know
Youre already home

We could take this road, lets go home
All those dreams we know
We could take this road on our own
All those dreams we know
All those dreams wont go
Itll be alright

Weve gotten strange weve gotten older
Itll be alright
I miss the days when we were sober
But itll be alright
All those years
We used to know
All those dreams wont go

We could take this road, lets go home
All those dreams we know
We could take this road on our own
All those dreams we know
All those dreams wont go

I wont let it go
Im taking control
I want you to know
Youre already home

We could take this road lets go home
All those dreams we know
We could take this road on our own
All those dreams we know
We could take this road lets go home
All those dreams we know
We could take this road on our own

All those dreams we know
All those dreams wont go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Let's Go Home's song Carousel express a sense of nostalgia and a longing for a return to a simpler time. At the beginning of the song, the singer reflects on the fleeting nature of youth and the inevitable changes that come with aging. However, they still hold onto hope and believe that everything will be alright in the end. The repetition of the phrase "all those years we used to know, all those dreams won't go" emphasizes their longing for the past and the dreams they had when they were younger.

The chorus offers a solution to the singer's feelings of displacement: "We could take this road, let's go home." The idea of going home evokes a sense of comfort and familiarity, and the singer suggests that by going back to their dreams and goals, they can create a sense of home for themselves. The phrase "all those dreams we know" reinforces the idea that they have not forgotten their aspirations, and that these dreams can still be realized.

Towards the end of the song, the singer acknowledges that they have changed and grown older, but they still hold onto the memories of their youth. The repetition of "we could take this road, let's go home" further emphasizes their desire for a return to a simpler time, and their willingness to take the steps necessary to make this happen.

it's crazy how much your life can change in so few years.

Just turned 20 today and remembered this song out of the deepest recesses of my brain when I heard this at 11 and had to find it, I’ve changed so much and it’s crazy how some old song I barely remember hearing really being back how much has happened in the last 9 years

25 now.. it was a time like no other, brighter days, happier times. Maybe that's just me, though.
But hey, maybe it doesn't end like this (current state of world). I hope that people can become kinder, less angry and mean. I can only hope, though.
