Lil Rob debuted as an artist in 1992, prior to the release of his album Twelve Eighteen Part 1, he regularly moved as many as 100,000 units for each independent CD he recorded. The number Twelve Eighteen, which is also tattooed on Lil Rob's arms, represent the numeric value of the letters L and R, respectively, which are Lil Rob's initials. The number was used by Lil Rob during his days as a graffiti tagger.
In 1994 at the age of 18, Lil Rob's chin was shattered when he was shot in the jaw. Over time Lil Rob renounced his gang affiliations and called for "Brown Pride" and unity between all Chicanos.
Lil Rob has found commercial success with the release of Twelve Eighteen Part 1, which had been in regular rotation on radio stations outside of the West Coast thanks to the singles "Summer Nights", and "Bring Out The Freak In You".

Never mind what i do, stick to u
let me live ,its my life
its what i go thru every day
(im just an average man tryin to do the best I can)
Never mind what i do, stick to u
let me live ,its my life
its what i go thru every day
I rap about whats real, and what i go thru on the daily, its crazy, like my neighborhood back in the 80's, ive seen shit, ive lived it, i kno it, so i give it, i cant stop, and i wont stop until i finish, in the 90's u could find me on Hernandez with my homeboys, lookin out for the Chota, livin la vida loca, within my pockets some one always had a foosca, u kno how it is, u rollin thru u get thucha, bullets flyin i aint liyng i got hit by one, hefita cryed, i almost died, and it was just for fun, were never doin what we aughta be, rest in peace to my homeboy PeeWee, who got shot by a cop in a robery, and honestly that part of our lifestyle isnt suitable, dont act like you dont kno how it feels to go to a funeral,(silencio), thats how were livin though, and then we wonder why they look at us like were some fuckin criminals u kno,
Chours
I never left the pad without shaving my head, getting cleaned up, creased up, takin a joint to the head, never been to juvy hall, never been to the Pen, but to my homeboys im some one u can depend on, i used to use krylon to write on, fences and walls, big block,or old english letters, standing 10 feet tall, united we stand, divided we fall, tighter than some 12 18's, two sizes small, Smile now cry later, fuck it why cry at all, and if we ever got busted, homeboy, deny it all, we didnt do shit, they cant prove shit, even if they could, u never pull rat, or ur not welcome back to the hood, ur known as no good, thats how it was, thats how it is, fucked up predicament, get ur ass killed for that shit, you dont believe me, i dont care if u do, or if u dont, im just sayin what the fuck ive been through and its no joke
Chours
I get the smallest wires, and wrap them with the smallest tires, blaze more trees than the San Deigo wild fires, i get higher to inspire rhymes, say some shit to inquire minds, and make sure they admire mine, make em' wonder what the fuck goes on in this mind of mine, im a kool dude that could blow up for the final time, its all the same aint nothin changed, its still the style of mine, neighborhood music talkin about how we do shit, we cruz it, we some times loose it and act foolish, but who doesnt, cause a ruckus, fuck it thats what ur stuck with, products of the barrio, got no where to go, but we gotta go, if they ask me where im going shit I dont kno, around the town, see whos around, see whos down to get a 12 pack and bounce, im looking for the answer at the bottom of a bottle, its just my luck, i got no luck no california lotto

In the song "It's My Life" by Lil Rob, the artist emphasizes the importance of living life according to one's own terms. The chorus repeats the phrase "never mind what I do, stick to you, let me live, it's my life" to stress that people should focus on their own lives instead of interfering or judging others.
Throughout the song, Lil Rob shares personal stories and experiences from his life growing up in his neighborhood, including the violence and death that he witnessed. He acknowledges that his lifestyle may not be suitable, but it's the reality of where he comes from. He also touches on the topic of graffiti and the tight-knit bond that he shares with his friends.
The song ends with Lil Rob reflecting on his existence, revealing that he often turns to alcohol to try and find answers in life, but he always comes up empty-handed. Despite this, he continues to rap and share his stories with the hope that others can relate and find solace in his music.

And honestly
That part of our lifestyle isn't suitable
Don't act like you don't know how it feels to go to a funeral (Silencio)
