The Party's Over
Lime Lyrics

(Denis LePage)

Ooh-ooh-hoo, ooh-ooh-hoo
Ooh-ooh-hoo, ooh-ooh-hoo

The party's over
Can I take you home?
And if I do
Will you let me in?
You know I need a lover
When I'm all alone
Dreams come true
Let the love begin

The party's over
Yet we cannot seek
The streets are bare
And the crowd is gone
A moment like forever
When our feelings peak
Shall we dare?
Will we carry on?

(Chorus, Repeat 2x)
Let's tied it over
Tie it over
Let's tie it over
Let the feast go on

The party's over
Yet we cannot part
Attracted to
Each other's art
Let's move on together
Let's not be apart
We are too
Heart to heart

The party's over
I will take you home
Yes I will
And I'll let you in
I know you need a lover
When you're all alone
Dreams come true
Let the love begin

(Repeat Chorus 2x)

Ooh-ooh-hoo, ooh-ooh-hoo
Ooh-ooh-hoo, ooh-ooh-hoo

Ooh-ooh-hoo, ooh-ooh-hoo
Ooh-ooh-hoo, ooh-ooh-hoo

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Lime's song "The Party's Over" explore a moment of intense attraction between two people at the end of a party. The first stanza opens with the singer asking if they can take their crush home and if they will let them in. The singer then reveals that they are in need of a lover when they are alone and invites the crush to let their love begin. The second stanza takes a more reflective tone, with the singer observing that although the party is over, they are reluctant to part ways. They are drawn to each other's art and long to continue the moment when their feelings peaked. The chorus then repeats the phrase "tie it over" twice, suggesting that the couple should extend the moment of connection and let the feast go on.

The third stanza opens with a declaration that the party is not really over, as the singer and their crush cannot part ways. They share a connection that is too heart-to-heart to ignore. The final stanza mirrors the first, with the singer offering to take their crush home and let them in, noting that they too need a lover and inviting the crush to let their love begin again. The song ends with the same "ooh-ooh-hoo" refrain that runs throughout, suggesting that the attraction between the two is ongoing and unresolved.

В альбоме 84 года вообще ни одной ппоходной песни нет, кроме первой, может быть, а эта лучшая, без сомнения. В 85 еще " say you love me", unexpected lovers выделяется.

I thought I left a comment for this but I don't see it.  Anyway I love this song.  The sophistication & mood Lime achieve here is mind blowing.  Denis' organ/keyboard work here is some of his best.  Denyse & Denis singing has never been better.  I love this.

@Blast Fromthepast Lol!

@Tara Smyth Paranoid. I'll give you an example of an insult: "You're a jerk." There, you see? That's an insult.

Tara Smyth

@Blast Fromthepast the "are you kidding me", the tone and all the question marks.

@Tara Smyth Don´t dodge my question: WHAT PART OF MY COMMENT WAS AN INSULT????

Tara Smyth

@Blast Fromthepast you told me that isn't what an organ sounds like even though I originally listed keyboard too. To me Denis is achieving the same soul that Rod Argent and Steve Winwood achieve with their Hammonds here on this song.

The subtle brilliance of this song will always be lost on those looking for the straightest line from point A to B.
