Girl From The North Country
Lions Lyrics

Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
For she was once a true love of mine.
Well, if you go when the snowflakes storm
When the rivers freeze and summer ends
Please see for me if she's wearing a coat so warm
Please see from me if her hair hanging down
If it curls and flows all down her breast
Please see from me if her hair hanging down
That's the way I remember her best.
Well, if you're traveling in the north country fair
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Please say hello to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine.
If you're travelin' in the north country fair
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine.
The song "Girl from the North Country" by Lions (originally written by Bob Dylan) tells the story of a man who asks a traveler to deliver a message to a former lover who lives in the north country. He asks the traveler to remember him to the girl he once loved, and to check if she's wearing warm clothing to protect her from the harsh winds of the north. He also requests the traveler to observe her hair and see if it's still long and flowing down her breast, the way he best remembers her.
The song's lyrics reflect a deep sense of nostalgia and longing for a lost love. The singer seems to have a wistful fondness for the girl from the north country. He wants to ensure that she's safe and happy, even though they're no longer together. The lyrics are simple yet evocative, showcasing Bob Dylan's poetic sensibility.

Well, if you're travelin' down to the north country fair
The winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Well, if you goin down to snowflakes storm
The rivers freeze and summers end
You see if she's wearing a coat so warm

You see for me if her hair hangs long
It rolls and falls all down her breast
Will you see for me the hair's hanging long
That's the way I remember best
I'm a-wonderin' if she remembers me at all
Many times I've often prayed
In the darkness of my night
In the brightness of my day
If you're travelin' to the north country fair
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine.

This song gets me alot, I used to live a nomadic life, with my back pack and bike, I re-lived the moments when I lost my parents (got separate), I felt like I was a stray dog, the road was my home and my backpack was my bed, along the way I found good friends and get to understand other people in all sorts of walks in life, i was a young men then, and my ideals kept me going. "in darkness of the night, in the brightness of day". We rode through storms and landslides, got wiped out, nearly chopped by a 10 wheeler truck, hell its a rough country. drunken fights, I get to learn different cultures too. I understood empathy,no matter how hard life gets us, it's not an excuse to be an ass to others, we can still be the best version of us. I will never forget those times, even though I was broken but the lessons are gold too me.
