mountain
Lisa Fitzgibbon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But the road ended long ago
I want the satisfaction
To decide where I'm gonna go
It's a chain reaction when you're climbing to uncertainty
I better get a move on
I've got a long walk ahead of me
Shines a light and it's beckoning me
But deep inside resistance
It wants to sabotage the journey
It's a contradiction
Where I am and where I want to be
I better get a move on
I've a long walk ahead of me
I've a long walk ahead of me
The air is growing thinner
And today's light is dying
But I won't stop until I'm
At the top of the mountain
Every step is laden with the weight of uncertainty
I better get a move on
I've a long walk ahead of me
I've a long walk ahead of me
I've a long walk ahead of me
A long way
A long way
A long way
A long, long way...
A long way
A long way...
In Lisa Fitzgibbon's song, "Mountain," the singer expresses her desire to climb a metaphorical mountain. The mountain represents a challenge or a goal that she wishes to achieve. However, she notes that the road to the top has ended long ago, suggesting that she is at a crossroads in her life where she must find a new path to reach her goal. Despite this uncertainty, she wants to make the decision on where she will go, instead of leaving it to chance.
The singer acknowledges that climbing the mountain will not be easy, as it involves a "chain reaction" of events leading to uncertainty. She feels that resistance within her wants to sabotage her journey. The singer recognizes the contradiction between where she is now and where she wants to be, but she remains determined to continue her climb. The air is growing thinner, and the light is dying, but she is determined to press on until she reaches the top.
Overall, the lyrics to "Mountain" are uplifting and empowering. The singer acknowledges the difficulties she will face, but she is determined to continue her journey. The mountain serves as a symbol for any challenge, goal, or dream that one may wish to climb.
