Another few years have passed and now we’re all facing the scourge of Covid, each morn brings hope that one day the Sun will shine on an Earth having broken free from its grip. I hope where you are people are staying safe. I return yet again to Lorraine Hunt Lieberson for confirmation of better things to come.

Brook Eggleston Hi Brook, Thank you for kindly remembering. Yes, fortunately my hospital days are now a distant memory and currently I am enjoying almost full recovery, I just need to be careful what I take on. I continue to listen to music by Handel et al in the hope that the Sun ‘Will not forget to Streak’. Incidentally since leaving hospital I decided to sell my house and large car and have become somewhat more reflective. Now taking steps to make the lives of my wife and I less demanding. I hope you too are well and enjoying beautiful music such as this. There is so much in this World to be grateful for, despite what we hear. Thanks again

+Barbara Weaver Me too. She is one of the first singers who really turned me on to Handel's music, and Theodora is quite possibly my very favorite work by Handel. There simply aren't enough superlatives to describe Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, who was taken from us tragically too soon.

@Jeffrey Stivers Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes, I found comfort in the music, and tears. It is performed in such a reverent and hushed way that seems almost otherworldly. I played beautiful music for her as she was passing. She lived a long and good life and was glad to leave this world which she felt had become so ugly. And yet beauty remains, as this music and the memories of my mom exemplify.

@Jeffrey Stivers yes; thank you. I was in the original Peter Seller's Theodore production at Glyndebourne and used to kneel right behind Lorraine as she sang this aria. Total bliss at every performance. But I do enjoy Harry Bucket's somewhat slower version just as much.

I hesitate to say anything like she was the 'best' lyric soprano to interpret Handel but she surely was amongst the most pleasing and emotion stirring of them all. Arguably no one has surpassed her. Heavens this is elegant. Thank you as always Jeffery,
