Originally from Los Angeles, CA, Lou started experimenting with percussive sounds at the age of 4 using toy boxes and a 60's round hamec pounding out rhythms with his dad's jazz buddies who would come over and jam on the piano. At the age of 6, Lou started playing at the Kennedy School of Music in Hollywood, CA where he studied the accordian and performed in several competitions winning his first in 1967 at the Ambassador Hotel. At age 10 he started playing the guitar, age 11 the flute, age13 the tenor sax. Lou would try to play just about anything that could make a musical tone. With the help and support of his parents, Edith and Louis Sr., Lou was able to perform at the Shrine Auditorium, The Music Center at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion and concert competitions throughout California. In the late 70"s Lou performed with Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder and played the club circuit in Newport Beach. In the 80's Lou had a short stint with jingles for radio at KACE where he studied melodic choices for products and started producing his own music in the studio. Lou toured with Michael Trammell and Blest, a gospel group in Los Angeles and continued to study music with Bill Green, top woodwind player in the nation holding 1st seat at the academy awards and other huge televised events for over 20 years. He also studied for a short period with Buddy Collett, well received and world renowned woodwind player of jazz as well. Lou is currently focused on writing and producing music with his eldest son Protaje, that fans will enjoy for a lifetime.

This is really incredible. I've been trying for years, and I've gotten to the point where I could get a slight whistle. 1 min and I got my first real 'sharp' whistle.
Dan Usher
Thank you!

I don't usually comment on videos, but this one is really helpful and 10 minutes after watching it, I can produce something that vaguely resembles a whistle. You sir deserve more recognition.
Tommaso Bergamaschi
I have seen a lot of videos on this kind of whistle, I guess that everyone has their own technique, but to me this was the most helpful. It works very well! And it's not easy to explain it in such a simple yet effective way. After a lot of tries now I am getting better after listening at your explaination. Thank You Sir! π
Dan Usher
Thank you, that means a lot. I appreciate you taking the time to tell me.

This guy got me closer to whistling than anyone else had. Actually squeaked out a little whistle. Iβll be doing it soon.
Peter MacDonald
I tried for 2 hours last night and this morning I stumbled across your video and I got the faintest whistle 3 minutes of trying using your method! Thank you for making this video!
Van Bun SS
