Take It Or Leave It
Loudness Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're been runnin' 'round
Trying to keep me hungry
It doesn't mean a thing to me
Take it or leave it
Take it or leave it
What's this talk I'm hearin'
You can't take the heat
If you ask me I'll just say
Take it or leave it
You don't like the way
I'm up and down
You should know
If you can't understand
Then baby, maybe you should go
Will this ever end
Or is it just beginning
This shit has got to hit the fan
Take it or leave it
Don't you know you're gotta
Take the good with the bad
You should take the time
To realize what you had

Well if you don't like it
You can use the door
Find yourself another life
Take it or leave it
You're been runnin' 'round
Trying to keep me hungry
It doesn't mean a thing to me

Take it or leave it
Take it or leave it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Loudness's song "Take It or Leave It" portray a sense of defiance and independence in the face of someone who is trying to manipulate or control them. The singer of the song is being pushed and pulled in different directions, and the other person's attempts to keep them "hungry" and under their thumb are starting to wear thin. The singer is essentially telling this person that they have a choice - they can either accept the singer as they are, with all their flaws and quirks, or they can leave.

The repetition of the titular phrase "take it or leave it" throughout the song emphasizes the uncompromising stance of the singer. They are essentially saying "this is who I am, and if you can't handle that, then you need to move on." The line "you should take the time to realize what you had" suggests that the other person is taking the singer for granted, and that they will regret their behavior later on.

The line "will this ever end or is it just beginning" adds a sense of tension and uncertainty to the song. It's unclear whether the situation between the two people will come to an amicable resolution, or whether it will escalate and become even more fraught. The final line of the song ("take it or leave it") is delivered in a more forceful tone than at the beginning, suggesting that the singer has become even more resolute in their stance.

Overall, "Take It or Leave It" is a song about standing up for oneself and refusing to be steered in a direction that doesn't feel authentic. It's a powerful anthem that resonates with anyone who has been in a similar situation.

Does anyone still find themselves singing "Milky Wayyyyy!" At the chorus?

Tseveral Loudness conssist of reworked, rerecorded version of older songs.
This is one of them.
I personally prefer the original versions.

This is definetely axselfcover of Milky Way.

Most of the songs on both this album and on Soldier Of Fortune has their roots in the older albums like Thunder In The East. Maybe the songs on these albums are "revisons" of the older songs they used here instead?.

Ok, people are shitting on Mike, and yes his distorted voice tone is a little "harsh" or "nasty" at times, but, come on, it fits right in the mix. Just listen to the albums. Nothing against Minoru, I think he's an awesome singer, but at least Mike could sing the fucking words. Mike was just the American flavor Loudness needed at the time. Let's not compare apples to oranges. As far as I'm concerned, both singers rock. Hail LOUDNESS!
