From this second album they released two singles, The Best Little Secrets Are Kept which entered the US Singles chart, and God Killed The Queen which entered the UK Singles chart. In September of 2007 the band released a second EP entitled The Distances From Everyone To You and in January of 2008 released their third album Slick Dogs And Ponies from which they have released the single Air Traffic Control which entered into the US Singles chart.
The band's lyrics have resulted in them causing much controversy and subsequently they have been banned from playing live gigs in the state of Alabama. Their lyrics are filled with double meanings and sexual connotations, and are often condescending towards women.
The band split in 2010.
Guilt By Association
Louis XIV Lyrics

And all the rest of you, away from the door
And everything that you ever thought would come true
I've got news for you
All the cash on the barrelhead
You never thought you'd be doing this ever
I don't know why you think you can talk to me
As you peel back the skin from an orange
Remember how you got all of this?
Well, all of this
Is never ever coming true
There's nothing you can do to change it
You don't have to do the crime to do the time
It's just guilt by association
I've been thinking to myself
There's something we should be afraid about
Are you starting to figure out
That you're never going home?
Never going home
All alone
But from what I see fit
There's nothing you can do to change it
You don't have to do the crime to do the time
It's just guilt by association
All alone
But from what I see fit
There's nothing you can do to change it
You don't have to do the crime to do the time
There's nothing you can do to change it
You don't have to do the crime to do the time
It's just guilt by association
I'll stop you right here
I've got something to say
Everything they deserve today
Is going to come true
How 'bout you?
No, you never thought you'd be
In this place right here where we're at
Well, there's something you must confront right now, now
Well, don't you wish you could change me?
Don't you wish you could change the way I feel?
Don't you wish you could look into my eyes
And make me feel?
You're going to make me feel
It's just guilt by association
The song Guilt By Association by Louis XIV is a hard-hitting rock song that delves into the concept of guilt by association. The opening lines, "All the cash on the barrelhead and get on the floor, and all the rest of you, away from the door," sets the tone for the song that warns of the consequences of hanging out with the wrong crowd.
The chorus "You don't have to do the crime to do the time, it's just guilt by association" is repeated throughout the song, further emphasizing the idea that one's choices can lead to guilt and consequences. The lyrics also suggest that one's past actions can come back to haunt them, as indicated in the lines, "Remember how you got all of this? Well, all of this is never ever coming true."
The song suggests that there is an element of fear in the consequences of guilt by association, and that it's not easy to change one's fate. The line "Don't you wish you could change me?" may suggest a desire to change the circumstances, but ultimately, the lyrics suggest that it may be too late.
